One of the most important things we do as teachers is connect with our students and teach

them how to connect with others. These connections help motivate our students, inspire them to
work hard, build their confidence, and often realize things about themselves that they did not
know before. This social and emotional learning is an invaluable component of school and one
you knew could not be lost during distance learning. So, I made regular messages to all my
students to check in and see how they were doing.  Often, I let my students share their work and
have free chit chat time to build relationships with them.

However, the delivery of lessons is a significant challenge for distance learning. I am

responsible for preparing the instructional environment which guides student learning. The
students may experience difficulties in undertaking their own knowledge construction. Providing
online activities has challenges, including difficulty of encouraging participation, anxiety of
students, difficulty of creating successful critical/analytical dialogue, potential for mistaken
beliefs to be generated and shared and my ability to answer queries promptly.
