E-LEARNING:
Definition: E-learning is the online delivery of educational material, it is the method which is
using information technology, and the purpose of E-learning is to gain knowledge at any time
and in everywhere. E-learning is a broader term then the online learning. E-learning is similar to
computer-based instruction, computer-based training, online education etc. E-learning include
M-learning (mobile learning) it is used in which material delivered wirelessly to, smartphone, or
other mobile device.

For example: self- study from DVDs to online degree offer by university, teaching portal.
Collaborative software, electronic voting system

Benefits and Drawbacks of E-Learning:

Benefits of E-Learning:

1. Education: the student can learn from their home and can continue their home task while
in school those student who are busy in the home works they easily get education from
online and get degree.
2. Learning and training time reduction: E-learning reduce the half training time.
3. Cost reduction: the cost of learning is reduce, when we learn in class rooms the cost of
faculty occurs, travel cost occur if we replace by e-learning these cost are reduce.
4. Large number and diversity of learners: from e-learning we can provide training to
large number of employees who are belong to diverse cultural background, education
level, they are live in different location in different time period.
5. Innovation teaching: e-learning is the innovative teaching method you can teach in
different country, interaction with different experts.
6. Flexibility: e-learning has the ability to manage the time. Speed of teaching, location
from their schedule.
7. Expert knowledge: In classroom the one instructor Delivery a knowledge, where as in e-
learning the different expertise give their ideas and deliver their knowledge according to
the area of expertise.
8. Ability to learn from mobile devices: This helps learning in any place and at any time
and also provide support from mobile device.

Drawbacks of E-Learning:
1. Need for instructor retraining: some instructor does not have the knowledge to give
lecture by electronic for which they need a training which incur the cost.
2. Equipment needs and support services: we need the funds for purchasing the e-
learning system and for their creation and maintenance.
3. Lack of face-to-face interaction and campus life style: when we study in campus
we feel the interaction face to face but in e-learning it is lacking.
4. Student retention: without feedback and interaction many student lack the energy of
student they are not so active like they are in classroom so the student are not retain.

DISTANCE LEARNING: In which student get education from home at

anytime.in which student are separate from classrooms, sometime they can visit
university physically for the meeting the coordinator.

VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY: In virtual university student get the education from

online by using internet.

E-TRAINING: In which training is given by electronically for example using

internet, in E-training most companies give the training to their employees who are
located at different place.

Electronic Books (E-Books):

Definition: Book which is in digital format we can read from computer screen,
mobile device like tablet, iPhone known as e-reader. For example purchase the e-
book from Amazon.com and other e-book providers. Online publishing is more
secure.
Types of e-book that delivered and read in various ways.
 Via a dedicated reader: the book downloaded to an e-reader such as Amazon’s
kindle.
 Via web access: reader can read the book from publisher website. But it
cannot download.
 Via web download and a smart phones: reader download book to pc.
 Via general purpose reader: the book download in mobile device such as
iPhone.
Advantages of E-Books:
1. Store hundreds of book on the mobile device.
2. Low cost to the buyers, e-reader cost less than$75 tablet-based less
than$200.
3. Searchable you can easily search, links easily connect to the web.
4. Instant delivery you can download from anywhere at any time.
5. Portability you can easily carry anywhere.
6. Easily we can find print books.
7. Easily updating content.
8. Cost of printing is minimum.
9. We can large the font size for easily learning.
10. No wear and tear.

Limitations of E-Books:
We need sometimes of software and hardware that are too expensive for the
E-readers, for some people difficulty for him to read large material from small
computer screen, the battery easily run out.
