Knowledge, understanding, and interpretation You introduce some
compelling ideas but do not often elaborate enough on them to become clear for your reader. Your interpretation of “The Veldt” is much more interesting and compelling than that of “The Liar.” B. Analysis and evaluation Your analysis is not always supported by the quotes you provide. You must use DIDLS to justify any claim about tone. C. Focus and organization Your thesis doesn’t quite take a stance on the texts—you don’t give a controlling idea (what are the two texts trying to say about lying?). Your paragraphs sometimes lose focus around your main idea. Make your conclusion more concise and impactful. D. Language The diction in your hook makes it nearly unintelligible. Use literary present tense. Indent your paragraphs!
