TLE-CARPENTRY

LESSON TITLE: APPLY FREEHAND SKETCHING

School: SINAIT NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

1
A Self-Learning Kit for Grade 7/8 TLE Carpentry is an interactive SLK
designed to meet the needs of the 21st Century learners. It is anchored on a
holistic approach in developing the basic learning competencies in TLE
Carpentry of the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum. The lesson aims to
develop the skills of every students and become a competent one and to
promote also the learners to develop their creative thinking.
To the learners, read and follow instructions carefully. Used this SLK as
a basis and instructions for everyday lesson. Answer very well all the
activities, exercises and assessment independently and honestly in this SLK
to measure how much you have learned about the topic. Handle Self-Learning
Kit (SLK) with care.
With this SLK I hope that the learner would be a proficient and skillfully
learned carpentry and ready to compete not only in local but the whole world.

LO 1.0- Apply freehand drawing
At the end of the lesson, you are expected to:
1. Memorize the steps in sketching an isometric drawing
and orthographic drawing;
2. Determine the difference between isometric and
orthographic drawing;
3. Draw isometric and orthographic figure.

2
Before we proceed to our main topic, let’s have a short activity
first. This activity is very simple and related to our new topic.
Bring out your materials like one-piece short coupon bond,
pencil, ruler and your protractor. I hope you are all interested to
do this.

DIRECTIONS: In a one-piece short coupon bond, draw a cube with a dimension of

10cm., and label the three sides.

Do you have any question regarding our activity class? If there
is no question we may now proceed to our main topic. So, our
topic for today is all about Apply Freehand Sketching. In this
topic containing the steps in sketching an isometric and
orthographic drawing.
ISOMETRIC DRAWING -- means drawing which
resembles a respective drawing. It shows the actual outlook of
the object.
ORTHOGRAPHIC DRAWING -- represent the
arrangement in a drawing of the three principal views of an
object. It shows the top, front and side views.
There are six steps in sketching an isometric drawing:
1. Draw a vertical axis.
2. Draw left and right axis.
3. Determine the with and the length of the box
and then draw a vertical line.
4. Draw a left and right axis to the determined
height of the box.
5. Project a line parallel to the left and right axis.
6. Label the box to determine the top, front and
the right-side view.

There are three steps in sketching orthographic

drawing:
1. Study the object to be drawn. (See isometric
drawing on operation sheet 3-1).
2. Draw the top view, front view and the right side
view.
3. Draw a simple drawing using block as model.
Try to study the given view.

Steps in Sketching Isometric Drawing of a Given

Orthographic Figure:
1. Study the object to be drawn (see
orthographic drawing).
2. Draw the isometric drawing.
3. Lay out the front view.
4. Sketch the top view and side
view. 5. Finalize the object to complete
the drawing.

4
These are the examples and steps in sketching an isometric
box.

1. Draw a vertical axis.

2. Draw left and right axis.

3. Determine the width and length of the box and then draw a vertical
line

4. Draw a left and right axis to the determined height of the box.

5. Project a line parallel to the left and right axis.

6. Label the box to determine the top, front and the right-side view

DIRECTION: In a two pieces long bond paper do the following
activities.

ACTIVITY 1:
Sketch an isometric box and label it to determine the top, front and the right
side view.

ACTIVITY 2:
Do the orthographic drawing of the given isometric figure.

GIVEN:

Freehand sketching is the most common, basic and the
easiest way to sketch a plan. Correct freehand sketching is
produced in accordance with the job requirement. It shows the
actual outlook of a figure trough the isometric and
orthographic form of work. By using free hand sketching you
can easily determine the three main views of the figure, the
top view, front view and the right side view. It help us also in
making a perfect plan.

DRAW ME:

DIRECTION: In a three whole long bond paper draw in

order the steps in sketching an isometric box.

RUBRICS FOR SCORING:

20- The drawing was done correctly and neatly.

15- The drawing was done correctly but there’s an erasure.

10- The drawing on properly done and many erasures.
