Agenda: Evaluating English final exam

 As it has been stated here above, the above mentioned English Language and Literature
Department teachers were chosen by DELL as Exam Committee to exercise their role.
Accordingly, the exam committees evaluated the final exam which is prepared by
Extension Instructors for first year second semester students as the owners of the course;
subsequently as Exam Committee, we evaluated the final exam of Communicative
English Skills II which were prepared by the course owners on content areas which
should be included to enable the students to perform better on the final exam by applying
their general English competency. Accordingly, we evaluated the final exam on the
following content areas and exam items:

Content Items:

 Reading Comprehension
 Language Use
 Grammar Use

1
Exam Items:

 Multiple Choice
 Matching
 Reading
 Completion
 Writing

According to Exam evaluation criteria, the exam should cover the content of the course at least
three (3) content areas and at least 25-50 exam items depending on the course nature. Based
on the above criteria, the final exam which was prepared by extension course instructors were
evaluated based on the above criteria and accepted as the standard exam for the students and
approved by the Exam Committee.

Therefore, we have reached on consensus that the final exam can measure one’s English
competency in line with having acceptable standard of competency in English and we have
brought the meeting to an end.
