 166 Series Industrial

Gas Regulators

Fisher Controls July 1979 Bulletin 71.1:166

The 166 Series industrial gas regulators (see figures 1 and

2) provide the precision gas pressure control necessary to
optimize burner combustion in industrial and commercial
applications. These regulators are installed just ahead of
the burner manifold as a final control element. They give
accurate, high capacity regulation in spite of widely varying
inlet pressures from distribution system pipelines.

Features
Excellent Shock Characteristics and High Speed
of Response—Two-way stabilizer vent valve on various
constructions (see figure 3) and double-ported body pro-
vide quick response to minimize sudden shock caused by
rapid load changes. This aids in maintaining uninterrupted
service and minimizes undue activation of safety equip-
ment.

High Capacity and Tight Shutoff—Double-ported W0106

body provides large flow capabilities. Soft-seat valve plug
disks ensure shutoff even at low pressure settings. Figure 1. Typical 166 Series Industrial Regulator

Overpressure Protection
Like most regulators, the 166 Series regulators have outlet
pressure ratings lower than their inlet pressure rating.
Downstream protection should be provided if the actual in-
let pressure exceeds the outlet pressure rating.
Overpressuring any portion of a 166 Series regulator may W1032

cause regulator leakage, damage to regulator parts, or per-
sonal injury due to bursting of pressure-containing parts or
explosion of accumulated gas. Provide appropriate over-
pressure protection devices to ensure that none of the lim-
its in the ”Specifications” or in table 2 will be exceeded.

Regulator operation below these limits does not preclude

the possibility of damage from external sources or from de- W1902
