Hello everyone!! Today we are going to start working on ideas and strategies on how to teach
very young learners online 

So, have your mate ready, a pen and a piece of paper to enjoy watching all of the following

1. Write down one or two comments on each of the videos (we are going to comment on
them next Tuesday)
2. You are going to share FOUR  of the following videos in your blog and, of course you

Silly banana-drilling game
Roll the dice-flashcards the number that appears in the dice is the number of times the
sts are going to say that word out loud.
The flash-guessing

Silly voices-Practicing words by using different tones
EYE CONTACT, SMILE, KEEP OUR STUDENTS PAYING ATTENTION WHILE

Video Nº 3 - ONLINE ESL GAMES FOR YOUNG LEARNERS


Warm up with a song related to the subject or a song that the students like
Transition to PPT with our classroom pet, while we do this we need to keep our students
interested and concentrated
Teach some expressions while we show the vocabulary ONE BY ONE
Include images before saying the actual words to encourage our students to say what
they know
Practice new words
Practice in context (in their houses)

Worm up ideas (3)
1st: What is that? Pictionary, drawing --> a word students find difficult to learn
Learn them how to guess (question)
2nd: The shy puppet - use a puppet according to the student
Practice introduction questions
Make the puppet whisper into our ears
Repeat until ready to move on
EYE CONTACT WITH THE PUPPET - THE PUPPET MUST HAVE EYE
CONTACT WITH THE CAMARA - MAKING OUR PUPPET SAY BYE WHEN
THE CLASS IS OVER
3rd: Silly puppet
Set up a picture
Show students a picture
Silly puppet introduces the word incorrectly (mispronouncing) - ALWAYS REVIEW
WORDS AND NOT NEW ONES. This way, the students will correct the puppet by
saying the word correctly
Keep going until all the words have been practised

VIDEO Nº 6: TEACHING YOUNG LEARNERS ONLINE, A DEMOS CLASS


Provide wait time for sts to repeat and speak at home
Sing familiar songs with actions
Using on-screen guessing games for high engagement (letters on the walls)
Use visual cues
Give frequent praise
Hide surprises to reveal in the classroom
Vary repetition by volume, speed or silliness
Break up the lesson with songs for active learners
Prepare materials in advance (vocab)
Move objects closer or farther from the camera for more dimension
Critical thinking game-use screen share
Use annotation tools to mark up the screen
Using realia and puppets to motivate sts and relate to their lives at home
Alternate activity type frequently for multiple intelligences using games, repetition
activities, songs and conversation questions
Revision activities-Engage students with kinesthetic tasks
Ask questions for critical thinking
Ending the lesson maintaining classroom routines
Give sts an extension task for creative thinking and to keep learning at home!
This has to be easy in order to be accessible for all sts

their names are

VIDEO Nº 8: My tiny classroom


Finding a small corner and making a little classroom
-Do the activities on the file and think of two activities to work online with the
following topic: FOOD
1st class: milk, cake, cheese

2nd class: orange, water, yoghurt

3rd class: chocolate, ice cream

4th class: revision of everything and final product

You can also review colors and numbers up to 5
