The Culture and Politics Program invites applicants for a one-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in
Global Media and Film Studies, beginning August 2021. Culture and Politics (CULP) in the
Walsh School of Foreign Service is an interdisciplinary major that empowers undergraduate
students to craft their own thematic concentrations rooted in questions of culture, knowledge,
and power. The Fellow will teach one course each semester and will help organize a series of
film and media events in the Culture and Politics Program. Compensation is $50,000/yr plus
full benefits. 

Qualifications

We seek a critical teacher-scholar whose work contributes to anti-colonial, anti-imperial


practices by challenging older conceptions of national culture, region, canon, and/or
tradition. The postdoctoral scholar should be well-versed in multimodal and transnational
methods and technologies that reveal south-south connections and emerging global racial
formations. We welcome research that imagines alternative ways of addressing global
inequalities, including capitalist dispossession, environmental injustice, unequal access to

health and education, and struggles for substantive citizenship and sovereignty. Applicants
from all disciplines in the humanities and humanistic social sciences are encouraged to apply.
