The Word 'Sport' comes from the old
French word called Desport which
means "Leisure", but this word has
changed its connotation with “passing
time”.

- Arnis is known as the ART of stick
fighting.
- Arnis is also known as eskrima and
kali, known as a national sport and
martial arts in the Philippines.
- Kali is being taught in a school like
training grounds, which was called
Bothoan.

Skills
Drop Shot - It is an overhead stroke from the
rear court to the opponent’s
forecourt.
- This stroke allows the shuttlecock to
fall rapidly and close to the net in
the opponent’s side of the court.
Clear - the shuttle stays in the air longer
Smash - It is a hit with power and speed
downward to the opponent’s court.
- Is a hard-hit overhead shot that
forces the shuttlecock sharply
downward into the opponent’s court.
Backhand service - the action for the service is a push
and not a hit, which gives added
control over the shuttle.
Forehand shots - the arm action is a push forward,
using a firm wrist and bent arm.
Drive - Is the fast shot that makes the
shuttlecock fly horizontally, over the
net.
