1. What is a Lingua Franca?

A Lingua Franca or also known as international language is a mixture of languages used as a

medium of communication by people whose native languages are different.

2. What are the main reasons for English having become the international Lingua franca?

The main reasons why English become an international Lingua Franca is because it is a mode of
communication that enables everyone to understand no matter of their culture and ethical backgrounds are.
Thus, the English language makes easier the communication are more efficient to understand each and
every one.

3. Describe the role of English in some Asian countries such as India, Japan, China and the Philippines.

The role of English in some Asian countries such as India, Japan, China and Philippines is that it is
easier for them to engage in foreign business. Their economy will be more progressive by the help of
foreign investor, and more opportunities are waiting. The English language has also used as a medium of
instructions mostly around the world. Through this they can compete and communicate efficiently and
effectively by the use of English Language.
