Week 7

I spent most of the week doing feedback and adding to work to my website to make sure it was as
detailed as possible. I added to my narrative structure section and talked about my short film and how
I would like to include flashbacks. I then compared my short film to Manchester By the Sea, as it
includes flashbacks and has a similar structure that I am going to use.

I also conducted some more target audience research, to try and understand if my audience would be
interested in my short film and where they would watch my short film. My research was very useful
because I was able to see how many people would want to watch my short film and if they watched
short films in general. I received a lot of positive feedback about my ideas, and it gave me
confirmation/validation that there is an audience for my work and people are excited for my work.

Finally, I remade my production schedule to help me keep track of what I needed to do. Towards the
end of my previous production schedule, it was too tight and unrealistic, and I became a week behind
due to doing feedback. I also wanted to space my work out and give myself a more realistic schedule
to stick to. I wanted to make it more realistic and something I was able to stick to, I had planned to do
script writing and storyboarding all in one week, and I realised that this was not possible, especially
when I need to plan my pitch as well.

This week, I also started brainstorming and started my script. I bullet pointed the main events in my
short film, so then I would have a starting point for my script, and I could develop it from there.
However, I found it very difficult to develop it. Because even though I have events planned, I am
stuck with how to make it all flow together and link to make a narrative. I came across this same
problem in the last unit, as script writing is not my strong suit, however, in the last unit, I just started
writing ideas on a page and see what did and did not work, so I will do this again, and hopefully this
will help me develop my script. I will also be asking people for feedback for ideas and if there is
anything I can improve on.
