This is a short activity designed to prepare you for the lecture.
I want you to think of two words ‘diamond’ and ‘cause’.
Without consulting anybody else, or looking at any reference resources, write two short definitions for
these words. Take no more than two minutes to complete this task.
For example, if I had asked you to look at ‘cat’ you might have written a definition such as “The word
cat is used as a noun in English and the word refers to a feline, typically a small domestic pet but
sometimes it can be used to refer to larger wild cats such as lions and tigers”.
When you have written your dictionary entries, watch the lecture in the next step.
