Mixture, Money

Write a system of linear equations to model the following problems and solve.

1. A vending machine contained dimes and quarters. The number of quarters is 7 more than
twice the number of dimes. The coins have a total value of $20.35. How many of each coin
are there?

2. A chemistry student was asked to make 100L of 48% alcohol solution by volume by mixing
40% and 60% alcohol solutions by volume. How much of each must the student use?

3. To increase sale, a store manager mixed gummy words selling at $1.60/kg and chocolate
swirls selling at $2.20/kg. If the new price became $1.75/kg, how much of each candy was
used to obtain 50kg of the new mixture?
