Perpendicular Lines and Parallel Lines

 Perpendicular lines are two lines that intersect and form a right angle ( 900 )
“ ¿ ” is a symbol of perpendicular.
The figure shows that the two intersecting lines AB and CD form a right

angle which is ∠ ABD. Therefore AB ¿ CD, read as “ ray AB is

perpendicular to line CD”

 Parallel lines lines that do not intersect. “ II “ is a symbol of parallel .

The figure shows that the two lines do not intersect or touch.
AB II CD, read as “ line AB is parallel to line CD”

The figure shows that the two lines are not parallel because if the two lines
extended to its direction, the two lines will intersect.

ACTIVITY:
Given: The points A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H are corners of a box shown below:

Use the figure above to answer the following:

Lines AD and BC are parallel
Lines DH and CG are parallel
1. What other lines are parallel to line AB?______________________
2. What other lines parallel to line CG?_________________________
Lines AB ¿ BF
3. What other lines perpendicular to line BF?____________________ THIS SPACE
IS FOR THE
QR CODE
4. What other lines perpendicular to line HG?____________________
