Overview of Government Policies

Government policies play an important role in sustainable building design. Without the proper
legislation, it is impossible to sustain the design process that requires different important factors
which are important to cover to make the design process more effective to use. For this reason, it
is important to implement government policies for a better sustainable and reliable building
design. When talking about the UK government, then these policies are important to cover to
make the system more effective for different people living in the United Kingdom. Currently, the
design of the building and sustainable design is the main concern among the AEC/O (Architects,
Engineering, Constructors and Operators). For this purpose, it is important to cover all the
requirements which are important for the building design and architect. The UK government
always try to make a sustainable system for the effective design of the building. The primary
purpose of this sustainable design is to reduce carbon consumption which is the main cause of air
pollution. Other important factors include health and wellbeing, creating employment and enable
the sustainable environment (Cerovsek, 2013).
The UK has imposed different policies to make sustainable building design more effective. These
policies are related to the different other factors which are interconnected with the UK
government policies.
For the sustainable building structure and environment, the United Kingdom’s BREEAM
(Building Research Establishment’s Environment Assessment Method) playing a vital role in
the sustainable building design. Therefore, the requirements for the sustainable building design
refers to the different factors which are related to the design of the sustainable building
environment. For the sustainable building design, building professionals apply the different
performance analysis tools to understand the different requirements which are important for the
working of the sustainable building design. The building professionals use different important
software for the analysis and design of the sustainable building and environment. The important
and most usable software is BIM (Building Information Modelling). This software helps to
integrate the issues which are related to the sustainable building design. BIM uses the different
important factors of sustainable building design. These factors are related to sustainable building
and environment analysis. The software also implements other parameters which are important
for sustainable design. Like, it helps to understand various issues which are related to the
5

sustainable building design by implementing the integration of multi-disciplinary information

and present in the form of the output. This practice helps to understand the different factors
which are important for the working of the sustainable building design. Therefore, it is important
to consider all the requirements which are important for sustainable building design (Clarke,
2012).
Sustainable development plays an important role in building and architecture designing. It helps
to implement the different factors which are important for sustainable building design.
Sustainable development is an important factor that must be analyzed to understand the different
requirements which are related to efficient building design. The UK government has initiated
different projects which are related to the efficient and sustainable building design. These
projects help to understand the different parameters which are important for the working of the
sustainable building design. The UK government has initiated the use of different software for
efficient and sustainable building development. BIM (Building Information Modelling) helps to
implement the different requirements for efficient and sustainable building design. The
implementation of the software helps to understand the different important parameters of
sustainable development. Therefore, it is important to understand the different factors which are
important for efficient and sustainable building design (Geyer, 2012).

Overarching Analysis
Sustainable building design and development need to cover the different factors and parameters
important for sustainable building design. Therefore, sustainable design requires understanding
the important factors for effective and reliable building design. But before this, it is important to
understand the different factors that may affect sustainable building design. Sustainable building
design requires the different important factors which are important to cover for efficient building
design. These factors are given below (Grant, Hackney and Edgar, 2012).
 Climate Change
 Energy Efficiency
 Clean Growth strategy
 Low carbon route map
Although other important factors are also for sustainable building design, these four are the most
important factors still playing an important role in sustainable building design. The first factor is
6

climate change. Climate change refers to any change in the environment, which may affect
sustainable building design. This is important to know that climate change is the most important
factor in sustainable building design. The impact of sustainable design is on climate change and
the other factors associated with climate change.
Therefore, to make sustainable design more effective, it is important to cover the different factors
in sustainable building design. Also, the implementation of sustainable building design refers to
the other important factors related to climate change. These factors help to understand the
implementation of sustainable building design for effective and reliable working. The
implementation of sustainable building design also affects the working of the different
environmental factors associated with climate and environmental change. The second factor is
energy efficiency, which also plays an important role in sustainable building design (Howard and
Bjork, 2013).
The energy efficiency requires the other factors which are associated with sustainable building
design. These factors are important to cover for efficient and reliable building design. Energy
efficiency refers to the different factors related to energy consumption and energy requirements
to make the system more efficient to use. This is important to know that energy efficiency plays
an important role in efficient and reliable building design. The energy efficiency helps to
understand the different factors related to the efficient and reliable building design. Therefore,
energy efficiency requirements help understand the different factors associated with sustainable
building design and development.
Energy efficiency is associated with sustainable building design. If the building's design is
accurate, it will consume less energy, but if the design of the building is not accurate, then the
chances are that it will consume more energy. Therefore, energy efficiency plays an important
role in efficient and reliable building design. The remaining two factors are also important for
sustainable building design. These two factors are associated with carbon consumption and clean
growth strategy for the building design. Carbon consumption is important to eliminate for
efficient and sustainable building design. The clean growth strategy helps to understand the
impact of sustainable building design on the environment. Therefore, to make the system more
efficient and reliable, it is important to use sustainable building design in a better way so that it
will improve the surrounding environment and help eliminate carbon consumption (Jung and
Joo, 2013).

Design Measures
There are different design measures used for sustainable building design. These design measures
are related to the different techniques that are important to implement in the building design to
make the design more effective and reliable. There are two methods widely used for design
measures. These are used for the design measures process. The first is used for the modeling, and
the second method is used for the process description capture. These two methods are given
below in detail.
 The IDEF0 method
The first method is called the IDEF0. This method used the ICOM (Input, Control, Output, and
Mechanism). This is the basic method used for design measures. Each component of the method
is connected to understand the effective working of the method. Four components are used in this
method. These are given below (Schlueter and Thesseling, 2015).
1. Input
The first component is the input, which is used for the design input process. The input is used to
understand the different input parameters that are important for efficiently working the method.
Therefore, the input process is important as it helps to understand the different parameters related
to the design and other factors. These factors are important for the design method to make it
more effective and reliable to use.
2. Control
The second component of the method is control. This component is used to understand the
different control strategies which are used for design measurements. It is important to know that
the control component is the most important component of the design measures. It helps to
understand the different control strategies necessary to implement for the better performance of
the design measurements. It is also important to know that using the control parameter helps to
understand the different strategies connected to the design measures. For this reason, this
component is the most important component used for design measures (Vakili and Boussabaine,
2014).
3. Output
The third component of the method is output. This component is used to understand the output
parameters which are connected to the design and other parameters. For this reason, it is
important to implement the design process in a better and effective manner. It is also important
8

to know that using the output for the method helps to identify the different parameters that are
interconnected to each other for the design method. Therefore, the use of this component for the
design method helps identify the different parameters and techniques necessary to implement for
a better understanding of the different requirements for the design measures.
4. Mechanism
The last component of the design measure is the mechanism. The mechanism helps to understand
the working of the design measures for better and effective working. Without the mechanism, the
design measures can’t work effectively. Therefore, it is important to implement all the different
parameters which are connected to the design measures. Therefore, it is important to implement
the different parameters of the design measure IDEF0 so that it will help to understand the
different factors in a better and efficient way (Clarke, 2012).

 The IDEF3 method

This is the second method which is used for the design measure. This method helps to identify
the different sequence of activities that are performed for the better understanding of the different
requirements for the design measurement. The IDEF3 helps to implement the different factors
which are necessary for the better working of the different parameters to make the system more
effective and reliable. Therefore, it is important to understand the different parameters which are
related to the different kinds of requirements for the effective and efficient working of the design
measure. The IDEF3 method helps to identify the different factors which are related to the
different techniques that are used to make the system more effective and reliable. There are two
types of process schematics used for the IDEF3 method. These are given below (Cerovsek,
2013).
1. Process schematics
This is the first process which helps to identify the different factors for the design process. The
process schematics helps to identify the different process related strategies which are important
to cover for the effective working of the different parameters. For this reason, it is important to
implement the process schematics so that it will help to identify the different parameters which
are important for the working of the design process. Also, the use of process schematics helps to
identify the different factors which are related to the different parameters which are important to
implement for the effective and reliable working of the design process. Therefore, it is important
9

to implement the schematics process in a better and effective manner so that it will help to
identify the different factors which are important for the design schematics.
2. Object schematics
This is the second step that helps to recognize the various factors involved in the design process.
The object schematics help to define the various techniques relevant to the process that are
necessary for the successful operation of the different parameters to be protected. For this
purpose, the implementation of object schematics is necessary in order to help define the various
parameters that are important for the design process to function. The use of object schematics
also helps to recognize the various factors related to the various parameters that are necessary for
the efficient and consistent operation of the design process to be implemented. It is therefore
important to better and efficiently apply the schematic method in order to help define the various
factors that are important for design schematics (Grant, Hackney and Edgar, 2012).

Construction Measures
For the sustainable design and construction of buildings, the various factors and criteria relevant
to the sustainable design of buildings should be covered. Therefore, sustainable design includes
an appreciation of the various factors critical for successful and efficient building design. In
advance, however it is important to consider the various factors that can impact on the work of
sustainable building design. Sustainable design of buildings includes the various important
factors to cover for efficient construction.
While other significant factors also contribute to sustainable building design, these four are still
the main factors in sustainable building design. Climate change is the first aspect. Climate
change refers to any environmental change that may influence the functioning of sustainable
construction. It is important to note that the most important factor in sustainable building design
is climate change. Sustainable design has an effect on climate change and other climate change-
related factors (Geyer, 2012).
Therefore, it is important to cover the numerous factors of sustainable building design in order to
make sustainable design more successful. Sustainable building design also applies to the other
significant factors linked to climate change. These aspects contribute to the understanding of
sustainable construction for productive and effective work. Sustainable design also influences the
functioning of multiple environmental factors, including climate and environmental change. The
10

second aspect is energy conservation, which also plays an important role in the sustainable
design of buildings.

The other factors associated with the sustainable building design are necessary for energy
efficiency. For efficient and reliable building design, these factors are significant. Energy
efficiency refers to the various factors associated with energy use and energy requirements that
make the device more efficient. This is important to note that energy efficiency is an important
factor in building efficiency and reliability. Energy efficiency helps to consider the various
factors associated with effective and reliable building design. Energy performance criteria also
help explain the various factors associated with the design and construction of sustainable
buildings (Jung and Joo, 2013).

Sustainable building design is related to energy conservation. If the building design is right it
will consume less energy, but if the building design is not correct, it is possible that more energy
will be consumed. Energy efficiency therefore plays an important role in effective and reliable
construction. For sustainable building design, the following two factors are also significant.
These two factors are related to carbon consumption and clean building design development
strategy. Carbon consumption is essential for the effective and sustainable construction of
buildings. The clean growth plan helps to recognize the environmental effect of sustainable
building design. For the system to be more effective and reliable, it is therefore critical that the
sustainable construction design be used in a better manner so as not only to improve the
environment, but also to contribute to reducing carbon consumption (Howard and Bjork, 2013).

Recommendations
Sustainable development is an important aspect to be studied in order to recognize the various
criteria relevant to efficient design. The UK government has implemented numerous initiatives
related to the effective and sustainable design of buildings. These projects contribute to
understanding the various criteria that are essential for the function of sustainable construction.
The UK government has started using various software for the effective and sustainable
construction of buildings. BIM (Building Information Modeling) leads to the implementation of
the various criteria for effective and sustainable construction. The implementation of the program
11

helps to understand the various relevant sustainable development parameters. It is therefore

important to understand the various factors that are important for efficient and sustainable
construction design.

Conclusion
In sustainable building design, government policies play an important role. Without proper law,
the design process cannot be maintained which needs numerous important factors that are
important for making the design process more productive to use. This is why government
policies for better sustainable and efficient building design are critical. When talking about the
UK government, these policies are critical for making the system more productive for various
citizens living in the UK. The architecture and sustainable design of the building is currently the
key concern of the AEC/O (Architects, Engineering, Constructors and Operators). For this
function, all specifications that are necessary for the architect and building design must be
protected. The UK administration is still seeking to create a sustainable framework for the
productive design of the building. This environmental design aims mainly to reduce carbon
consumption, the key source of air pollution. Health and well-being, job development and the
environment are other significant considerations.
