Cross Clearing: Feature overview

USTER® QUANTUM 4.0 can analyze and compare both the capacitive and optical signal at the same time.
The main signal is double checked by the auxiliary sensor to ensure in a smart and easy to set way.

• The quality of the yarn is protected, at the same

time, by 2 different technologies
• Both technologies support each other, in order to
provide the best protection of the yarn quality
• A clear example is a fluffy event, which can cause
push-ups, producing breaks in weaving / knitting /
beaming

• Protects the final yarn from quality issues which could otherwise be missed
• Controls quality by means of 2 leading technologies at the same time
• Prevents issues in downstream processes, by eliminating possible causes at source

Density: Feature overview

Combining the optical and capacitive signal, USTER® QUANTUM 4.0 is able to monitor the yarn density, both
continuously and after every splice

• Different densities can be originated by

different twist levels in the yarn
• Other causes could be mix of compact and
non compact yarn or differences in the
compacting level
• Different yarn types and materials have
different densities as well

• Protects from mix-up of yarns with different twist levels

• Prevents issues deriving by malfunctioning of the compacting device
• Prevents mix ups of different materials or blends of same or different count in the winder

Capacitive / Optical switch: Feature overview

USTER® QUANTUM 4.0 combines capacitive and optical clearing in one only solution.
It’s possible to switch between the 2 different technologies at any time

Swarm clearing: Feature overview

Swarm clearing detects faults that are in a certain area below the clearing limits. Those faults are not
disturbing as individuals but can cause fabric appearance issues due to their concentration on a short length.

the fabric appearance
• Detected faults can be thick / thin places or
Foreign Fibers
• Multiple defects can be eliminated with a
single cut, reducing overall cuts (splices)

• The new PP classes offers a specific overview of the content of Polypropylene in the yarn

sensors.

The Blend mix-up can detect cops with a different material composition being mixed up in greige yarns.

the market in raw white blend production
• This measurement is continuously checking the

• This function is not designed for controlling the
blend variation within a defined blend ratio.
