Introduction

Kotak Mahindra Bank is one of the fastest growing banks and most praised financial institution
in India. It was established in 1985 as finance company known as Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd.
Later on, February 2003, it was given the license to carry on banking services by RBI. The bank
offers transaction banking, operates lending verticals, manage IPOs and provides working capital
loans. This bank has its principal business organized in consumer banking, cooperate banking,
treasury, commercial banking and other financial services. The bank is able to successfully open
1603 branches and 2573 ATMs across the country.

Along with its subsidiaries this bank offers a wider range of financial products and services to its
customers. The core businesses are commercial banking, investment banking, life insurance and
general insurance. It also provides financial solutions to individual and non-individual customers
depending on their needs. They also provide their customers with wide range of investment
platform like Mutual Fund, Life Insurance, retailing of gold coins and bars etc. this bank has
properly utilized the technology and provides various sets of digital banking like phone banking,
internet banking, mobile banking, SMS service, Netc@rd, Home banking and bill payment
facilities.

This bank also has overseas subsidiaries with offices in Mauritius, London, Dubai, Singapore,
San Francisco and New York. These subsidiaries are mainly involved in investment advisory and
investment management of funds, equity and debt trading, broking and management of GDR.

Products

1) Current account: - Kotak Mahindra Bank provide a customized current bank account to
meet the varied customer needs. Current Account are the business accounts that provides
the facilities of unlimited transaction to its customers whether be an individual or an
organization. This provides personalized services to conduct easy daily bank transaction.
Kotak Mahindra bank also provide overdraft facilities to is current account holders to
meet their working capital requirement. The current account is divided into four segments
depending upon the customers need and are categorical different in terms of minimum
balance and charges.

 Further, Kotak Bank requires a minimum account balance of Average Quarterly Balance
of Rs. 25,000 to be maintained in its current account.

Kotak Bank Current Account Opening Procedure

A current account facility can be availed in any bank through both online and offline procedures.
The online process to open a current account is more time saving and easy.

Online Process:

 Visit the Bank's website or the Bank's online current account portal.
 Select the 'Open current account' option.
 Fill in the personal details in the current account application form.
 Download the application form and submit the printed copy in the Bank on your next
visit.

For the offline process, one needs to visit the nearest Bank in person, with the required

Penalty charge on pre-mature withdrawal of Fixed Deposits (Domestic/ NRI /NRE)

Kotak Mahindra bank provides Interest according to the rate prevailing on the date of deposit for
the tenure or until the withdrawn amount is remained at the bank or at contracted rate, whichever
is lower after deducting applicable penal charge for premature withdrawal as per terms and
condition. the penal charge on premature closure of Fixed Deposits including partial closure has
been fixed by the bank as below on Fixed Deposits booked/ renewed on or after 1st November,
2012.

5) Forex Card

Forex card is like a prepaid travel card that is loaded with foreign currency of customers choice.
This card allows us to pay in local currency in abroad and works as similar to debit and credit
cards. We can even withdraw local cash from an ATM. It is best while traveling to abroad as it
provides the facilities of paying in local currency on overseas trips. With a forex card along us
we don’t need to carry any foreign currencies in our wallet and this card is considered as one of
the safest ways to carry money on our international trip. With this card we can easily pay for
entry tickets, rail, bus passes, taxis, restaurant bills, shopping etc just by swiping or waving.

6) RTGS (Real-Time gross settlement)

Real-Time gross settlement (RTGS) is a fund transfer system that allows instant transfer of
money and/or securities. It is a continuous and fastest process of settling payments on an
individual order basis without netting debits and credits across the book of a central bank. They
are usually used for for large-value interbank funds transfers. Kotak Mahindra bank also provide

this service to its customers. One may use this option to transfer funds to any Third Party
(Beneficiary) holding an account with a bank other than Kotak Mahindra Bank, if the
beneficiary's bank participates in RBI Real Time Gross Settlement (RBI - RTGS). These fund
transfers are executed using Reserve Bank of India's Interbank Transfer Scheme. The minimum
amount that can be transfer via this channel is Rs. 2 lakhs

10) Demat account: -

Demat account is an account that is used to hold shares and securities in electronic format.
Demat account is known as dematerialized account and purpose of it is to hold shares that
have been bought or dematerialized. It makes share trading very easy for the users during
online trading. It involves the process of converting the physical shares certificates into
electronic form, which in turn make easier to maintain and is accessible from anywhere
throughout the world. Any investor willing to trade need to open a Demat with a Depository
Participant (DP). Its main purpose is to eliminate the need for the investor to hold physical
shares certificates and facilitating a seamless tracking and monitoring of holdings.

Procedure for opening a demat account at Kotak Mahindra bank

 In order to open a demat account one must have a regular bank account at Kotak
