FROM THE PULPIT

“According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a
foundation, and someone else is building on it. Each builder must choose with care
how to build on it.” 1 Corinthians 3:10

In one of my recent sermons I mentioned that St. Paul is asking us to check our wiring and our
foundation every once in a while. Here is a checklist of questions to help...

1. Is faith in God a visible and essential part of your home and family?

2. Are decisions made in your home in such a manner as to recognize the will of God and respect
the rights of others?

3. Do you take time from work and play to spend time alone with your spouse?

4. How often do you place self above spouse and family?

5. Do you set a Christian example for your children/grandchildren OR tell them one thing and do
another?

6. Do you worship and attend Sunday school regularly with your family?

7. Do you let house guests interfere with your church schedule?

8. Do you always criticize the church and people at the church in front of the family?

9. Do you encourage everyone in the family to use their God given talents and abilities
to the fullest?

10. Is the foundation of your family the sure rock of Jesus Christ?

These questions are neither perfect nor comprehensive but they are at least a start for you to
continue checking your wiring and foundation this spring. Use the other tools of devotions, Bible
study, worship and serving to check up on your spiritual health.
