Re: Relocation of Illegal Immigrants to Montana

Dear Secretary Mayorkas:

We have seen reports from DHS officials that illegal immigrants detained at the Rio
Grande/South Texas border may be transported to northern border states, including
Montana. We understand there is a crisis at the southern border, but that crisis is
one of the Biden Administration’s own making. This is what happens when the
federal government’s immigration authorities publicly refuse to enforce our Nation’s
immigration laws and promise illegal aliens who skipped the line an express route to
legalization and even citizenship. The present disaster is precisely what the Framers
aimed to prevent when they charged the President to “take care that the laws be
faithfully executed.” U.S. CONST. art. II, § 3. Montana is unable to care for these
individuals and should not have to bear the public safety costs this reported action
will impose. Know this: if these reports are confirmed, we will take any and all
appropriate legal measures to immediately prevent these relocation efforts.

Respectfully,

Greg Gianforte Austin Knudsen
