MAXsys 2510

precision metering
When quality and extreme reliability are most

important, experienced application engineers

are turning to the time proven technology and

reliability of the MAXsys 2510 precision metering

system for their high profile application solutions.

Originally designed for substation, generation,

and transmission applications, the meter has

evolved into a much higher level of intelligent

electronic device. The MAXsys 2510 meter is

the most time proven meter in its class, and is

built upon the solid foundation of the highly

sucessful Quad 4+ meter.

Whether it be an important industrial customer

requesting real time information over the Internet

or communication with a SCADA master from a

substation, this meter has the power, functionality,

and reliability that is essential in a successful

high-end metering installation.

Logic + Advanced Math Package + Data Gates=One Powerful Solution
With the ability to control relays and data flow using logic and data gate control, the application engineer has the ability to
meet any special metering requirements. An advanced math package provides the flexibility to develop customized formulas.

Power Quality Monitoring

Power quality is quickly becoming a critical point of differentiation among commercial and industrial clients as they select
service providers in the deregulated marketplace. This is why the MAXsys 2510 meter was designed with the ability to
measure and monitor voltage sags, swells, under and over voltages, total harmonic distortion, voltage and current imbalances,
and record the duration of each event. The meter will also record the time and date of the event to the nearest second.

When used in conjunction with Landis+Gyr’s powerful Event Monitoring Software (EVM) or MAXtrac software, you have an
efficient system.

Multi-level TLC and Transmission Line Losses

The MAXsys 2510 meter is considered to be the leader in transformer and transmission line loss calculations. The standard
firmware will allow losses to be calculated across three transformers or transmission lines in series with each other.

The meter can have up to six sets of values for each of the loss calculations. This allows the meter to change loss calculations
as the transmission lines are reconfigured. Using peer-to-peer communications, the meter can add or subtract loads before
calculating the losses. This is ideal when there are loads between the metering CTs and the power transformer you need to
calculate the losses across.

Using the peer-to-peer communications will also allow the summing of multiple load points and then calculating the losses and
sharing the losses base on each points load.

Dual RTU Boards

The MAXsys 2510 meter with the advanced 57XX firmware will allow you to install dual RTU boards within the same meter.
Now you can talk to your SCADA system using DNP 3.0 level 2 and to an RTU using Modbus. One of the two boards needs
to be DNP 3.0 level 2, but the other board can be any of the supported protocols.

Dual Load Profile Recorders

With the MAXsys 2510 meter and the advanced 57XX firmware, it is now possible to have two independent 16-channel load
profile recorders with individually programmable interval lengths for each recorder. The MAXsys 2510 meter with 57XX firmware
also has 512K of RAM, as compared to the 256K of RAM in the standard MAXsys 2510 meter.

Programmable Pulse Inputs

An option Input/Output board can be added to the meter in one of the three available option slots. A few examples of how
these inputs can be used include pulse inputs for temperature, energy values from other meters, flow metering, and status
inputs.

MAXsys EVM Software
When paired with Landis+Gyr meters, the MAXsys Event Monitoring Software (EVM) provides multiple notification
capabilities on a variety of events, including power quality. This sophisticated system can be customized by utility personnel
to meet their load monitoring requirements. With the ability to run on DOS, Windows, or NT systems, the MAXsys EVM
software can be easily programmed to notify appropriate department personnel based on the type of event, via various
communication methods, including e-mail and pager technology.

MAXtrac Monitoring
MAXtrac data acquisition software is ideal for both energy suppliers and energy users. In concert with Landis+Gyr meters,
MAXtrac can gather energy data on-line from multiple metering sites and initiate control functions remotely. Energy
providers can utilize this technology for substation monitoring, and industrial and commercial accounts can preview energy
consumption levels at multiple locations. A simple click of the mouse will reveal additional metering information pertinent to
that site. There is no limit to the number of sites that can be monitored, and the software will support multiple
communication mediums such as direct connect, modem and over the Internet.

Historical data and profiles can be viewed, as well as real-time readings and power quality information. In addition, MAXtrac
data can be exported to popular spreadsheet applications for creating customized reports.
