A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE SABANGAN LOCAL GOVERNMENT TO IMPLEMENT A

WEEKLY ONE DAY BAN OF PLASTIC BAG USAGE AMONG ESTABLISHMENTS

Whereas, it is a declared policy of state that it shall protect and advance the right
of the people to a balanced and healthful ecology in accordance with the rhythm and
harmony of nature, coinciding with Republic Act 9003;

Whereas, it is in the general interest of the public that the state establish programs
that address the primary concern of the people.

Whereas, plastic bags are considered to be a major contributing factor to the

deterioration of the environment as they are not responsibly disposed by people;
 Whereas, the implementation of a one day ban of plastic bag usage in some local
municipalities has been proven effective, a branch of a said resolution such as an added
day of plastic bag usage ban will be proposed;

Whereas the said program would be the first step towards the complete
eradication of plastic bag usage in the Philippines.

Now therefore, be it resolved that the Sabangan Local Government Unit is urged to
implement a weekly one day ban of plastic bag usage;

Resolve further, that the program be implemented by Sabanga Local Government

Units in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources,
Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Education, Non-
Government Organizations, People’s Organizations and Barangay officials.

Approved this 29th day of October, 2011 at SNHS by 60 student leaders and 10
campus club advisers representing 5 public High school of Sabangan Mountain province.
