You are an IT specialist working in a consultancy company called Regent Technology which specializes in server
2012 network implementation. Regent Technology was recruited by Botho University to help with the upgrade of
their network. The organization was recruited to assist with the smooth migration of the Network from Windows
Server 2008 to Windows Server 2012 implementation.

Your role involves Working with Regent Technology in finding the most appropriate migration path with respect to
the information provided by the University. Botho University is divided into multiple locations (Gaborone which is
the Head office), Francistown, Maseru, Windhoek and Eswatini) and in each of the locations we have the Human
Resource department, Accounts Department, MIS, Academics & Non Academic departments. Your assignment is to
propose and document a strategy for upgrading/implementation with respect to the following needs of the
organization:

1. How many Windows server 2012 are needed per location and which versions of Windows Server 2012
would you implement at the various locations and whether you will suggest the use of Server Core or the
GUI installation. Giving also the necessary server roles and Features needed on the servers in each location.
(Provide a very good justification for your choices made).
2. The Servers recommended above need to be installed and implemented from the head office at Gaborone.
Make recommendations on how installation & deployment should be done remotely from Head office for all
the servers at the various locations and also distribution of updates to Windows Server 2012 and
Applications remotely. (Provide a very good justification and explanation for your choice)
3. You have been instructed to design the Botho University Active Directory Logical and physical structure
from the perspective of the information provided above. Justify the proposed structure in terms of Forest,
trees, domains, trusts and OUs for the Logical design and use sites, subnets and domain controllers for the
Physical Design based on the above information provided. It is recommend that your design is supported
with a diagram and detailed explanation of any assumptions made while designing.
4. Botho University is planning to include virtualization solutions (Hyper-V) in their proposed network
design. As an IT consultant propose and suggest how a virtualization implementation in the university that
will improve the existing network. (Provide a very good justification for your answer)
5. Develop a Security Implementation plan for the whole organization which will ensure that information
within the organization has integrity and your security plan should also incorporate auditing and group
policy as a means of ensuring data integrity but make this security plan as robust as possible. (Provide a
very good justification for your answer)
6. Implementing a Disaster Recovery plan for the organization so that your implemented plan encompasses
active directory maintenance, Configure and managing backups and Server recovery using backups. The
plan should ensure the organization has minimal downtime as possible. (Provide a very good justification
for your answer)
