WHAT IS DENSITY?
DENSITY OF A MATERIAL IS THE
MASS PER UNIT VOLUME OF THE
MATERIAL

1. The S.I. unit for density is kilogram per

cubic metre (kg/m or kg m ).
3 −3

2. Another unit that is often used is gram per

cubic centimetre (g/cm or g cm ).
3 −3

THE FORMULA OF DENSITY:

Mass(g)
Density (g cm ) =
−3
Volume(cm 3 )
3. We can compare the densities of different
solids which have the same volume by
comparing their masses.

CONCLUSION
The conclusion is the mass
and size of the molecules in
a liquid and how closely
they are packed together
determine the density of the
liquid.Just like a solid,the
density of a liquid equals
the mass of the liquid
divided by its volume.
