This edition of NFPA 70E, Standard for Electrical Safety Requirements for Employee
Workplaces, was prepared by the Technical Committee on Electrical Safety Requirements for
Employee Workplaces, and acted on by the National Fire Protection Association, Inc., at its
November Meeting held November 14–17, 1999, in New Orleans, LA. It was issued by the
Standards Council on January 14, 2000, with an effective date of February 11, 2000, and
supersedes all previous editions.
This edition of NFPA 70E was approved as an American National Standard on February 11,
2000.

Committee Scope: This Committee shall have primary responsibility for documents on electrical safety
requirements to provide a practical safe working area for employees in their pursuit of gainful employment
relative to the hazards arising from the use of electricity, as covered in the scope of NFPA 70, National
Electrical Code.
This Committee shall have primary jurisdiction but shall report to the Association through the National
Electrical Code Technical Correlating Committee.
