EMBASSY OF SWITZERLAND

Schengen Tourist visa, main destination: Switzerland


An appointment by phone (1-900 222 340, THB 9/min) is required for all visa applications. The number
can only be dialed within Thailand. People living in Cambodia, Myanmar, or Laos can submit the visa
application through the Swiss Consulate in respective country, but may be requested by the Embassy to come
to Bangkok for a personal interview.

Documentary requirements
All applicants - legal residents of Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar or Laos - must submit in person (with the
exception of children up to 18 years of age, for whom their legal representatives may apply):
• Visa application form, duly filled out, dated and signed by the applicant;
• Two passport-sized pictures (recently made colour pictures, 3,5 - 4 cm in width, neutral light background, head
takes up 70-80% of the surface);
• Passport, valid at least three months after the end of the planned stay in Switzerland or another Schengen
Member State;
• One photocopy of the passport (personal data page and official entries);

• Confirmed round-trip flight reservation;


CAREFUL: do not buy the actual flight ticket before the visa has been issued. The Embassy cannot be
held responsible for any delay or if the visa is refused
• Confirmed hotel reservation/s for the entire duration of stay in the Schengen countries,
and/or signed invitation letter/s from a private person living in a Schengen Member State;
• Travel & Health Insurance by a company with seat or a branch in Switzerland or another Schengen State:
Ø Covering the costs of a rescue operation, the return journey for medical reason, medical assistance in an
emergency or emergency hospital care in the event of an accident or sudden illness;
Ø Valid in all Schengen Member States, minimum amount EUR 30,000 / THB 1,500,000;
Ø A list of approved Insurance companies in Thailand can be accessed on the Embassy website.
• Work certificate (for students, academic certificate);
• Proof of sufficient personal funds for the duration of stay in the Schengen countries (ca. CHF 100.00 per
day): bank statement/s for the last six months; Original booklet + photocopy.

• For applicants under the age of 18, birth certificate must be provided and their visa application must be
signed by both parents. A parental consent (done at Amphoe) is necessary for parents who do not travel
with their child;
• Resident foreigners: Work permit and/or resident permit; valid exit/re-entry permit in the passport.
Unless otherwise mentioned, all documents must be presented in original, accompanied by a
photocopy. The Embassy will only accept files that are absolutely complete.

Cost
The visa application-handling fee levied by the Embassy is EUR 60.- for adult, EUR 35.- for 6-12 years
children and no charge for children under 6 years. It must be paid in cash in local currency at the time of
lodging the application. For the exact amount in Thai Baht please refer to our website. The fee is not refunded
in case of rejection or revocation of the application.

Procedure
For Thai, Cambodian, Laotian and Myanmar nationals, the visa decision is taken within seven working days
after receipt of the visa application. For some other nationalities, it will take 2 weeks.

The Embassy of Switzerland reserves the right to request other documents and/or information, without

Complete documents would provide a basis for checking of visa application; however, it does not guarantee
the granting of visa.
