As the main drive his departure to China is to
care of the abandoned children, he swam

SPIRITUALITY deep into the life of the people there. He as a

pioneer, gave up everything he had in his
homeland and willingly bore the suffering of
Reflection
the mission untrusted to him.

He had showed me the spirit of incarnation

What is the spirituality of your congregation?
I recalled this question when I was in my
second-year theology. At that time, after our
manualia, we usually gather at our backyard.
And one of our junior asked this question.
The answer came from my senior, the fourth
year. He said that our spirituality is the
incarnation of the word. This answer become
my stand whenever people asking about our
spirituality.
However, I realized that after the session we
had with Fr. Jess, I have to elaborate more
the spirituality I’d understood with the
elements he offers. There are at least 15
elements that described our spirituality. Of
course, these elements are not taken from
nothingness.
like Jesus who wore off his goodness and
came down from heaven to do God’s will. I
realized that this is not an easy task.
Reflecting on this spirit, it triggered me to
discern more about my choice. Can I do it?
can I have this spirit? Can I follow it? that is
why during this period of intensification, this
session had helped me a lot on look deeper in
to my self to really take a right decision on
my life journey and make this element of
incarnation become one of my strength.

As what I understood, they are rooted or

taken from the original source of our
congregation. They are meticulously studied.
They come from the deep reflection and
discernment upon the CICM documents and
most important from our founder, Theopile
Verbist.

From these elements, I was contented that the

incarnation is one of these elements. I like
this element very much. Because upon
reflecting on this element, I could see how
our founder embodied this spirit in his
journey to China.
