Causes and Effects of Increased Traffic
Causes and Effects of Increased Traffic
In today’s world of advanced technology, there has been a growing trend towards the use
of vehicles and automobiles. This is leading to increased traffic on the roads of the globe. The
increased traffic is an issue that every country is considering to resolve by adopting different
strategies and taking appropriate measures that include the rise in the price of the vehicles to
discourage their consumption, the development of strong infrastructure, the imposition of taxes,
etc. Moreover, this increase in traffic issue has certain causing factors that as a result are leading
increased diseases.
There are multiple factors that are causing the skyrocketing traffic in the countries all
around the world. One of such factors is that people are too much dependent on the technology
and that is making them extremely lazy and dull due to which they prefer traveling by vehicles
even for shorter distances. Further, the advanced technology has made them materialistic by
nature and they are continuously making efforts to increase their worldly possessions. This leads
them to buy the vehicles more than they need and even the luxurious ones. Such unnecessary
possessions are also a cause of increased world traffic. Furthermore, they find the transportation
by means of vehicle as time saving and an easy conveyance due to which they prior the use of
vehicles for traveling over any other means which ultimately result into increased traffic on
roads.
All these determinants of increased traffic are leading to the serious effects being faced
by the environment and the people living in it. One of the environment related effects is the noise
pollution. The engines being used in the cars are very noisy and the sound waves that are
irregular and unpleasant. The increased traffic is polluting the air with the unpleasant sound that
is harming our environment. Further, the air pollution is also diffusing in the environment
because of the emission of smoke by the vehicles into the air. This emission consists of
poisonous gases such as carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide which are dangerous for
environment even in the tiniest amounts. This means that the air in which we breath is highly
toxic and polluted with detrimental pollutants causing damage to our ecosystem.
Another damages that have been caused to our environment and the ecosystem is the
activity of deforestation which means the cutting of trees and increased diseases. Since the traffic
is increasing, the proper road infrastructure needs to be established in order to accommodate the
vehicles. In order to do so, the urban settlement is being enlarged through cutting the forests so
as to provide the channel for transportation of vehicles. This is killing the wildlife because of
their habitat being lost. Moreover, various kinds of diseases are also spreading over the globe
because of the increased traffic. For instance, diseases related to human respiration because of air
pollution, hearing disabilities etc. Last but not the least, rate of fatal road accidents has been
increased since the traffic has drastically surged and this has caused the people to lose their lives
Hence, the slavery of the advanced technology has costed a great deal to the residents of
the world. They have become entirely dependent on the technological means of transportation for
their comfort and convenience. Thus, the traffic has increased in the world due to multiple
prevailing factors which has produced significant consequences on the environment and
