WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF GLOBALIZATION ON HOW PEOPLE COMMUNICATE AND VICE VERSA?

It is undeniable that globalization enable everything to become much more easier, faster and accessible; not
only in terms of goods and products but also in terms of information and communication.
Since then, communication has always been a complex process and bound by variety of challenges. Today,
because of the emergence of these technological advances, the difficulties in communication in the past were
now solved but comes with new challenges.
Globalization removed the barriers and challenges in communication such as; 'cultural differences’ for internet
and social media platforms exposes us to different cultures, we gain knowledge on how other people live and
sometimes we even adapt each other’s culture. Next is the ‘languages’, it’s not even a barrier anymore, in one
click we can translate a language and even learn them without going to school. Another is, the 'distance' - we
can’t feel it anymore, can we? We can talk to someone anytime and anywhere without meeting face to face,
or writing a letter and then wait for a long time ago feedback because now we have electronic messages or
emails. In addition, collaborating and exchanging ideas is now easier, because creating online communities
where people from different parts of the world communicate is now a piece of cake.
See, globalization give and create more opportunities through communication. That’s why having a great
communication skills now is a massive advantage. It won’t be surprising, if in the future we witness more
advances and unimaginable things. As long as there’s communication, people will continue to form ideas that
will build things.
Now the question, does communication improve? certainly.
Does the challenges in communication completely vanish? not at all.
As I see it, we might have all the access in communications' tools and resources, yet the new challenges now
lies in the 'communicators' themselves. I’m not going through details but we all know and feel it.
In conclusion, globalization indeed impact the way people communicate, these impact might be in negative or
positive forms. After all, just like the message from the video, which I quote “ It just depends how the people
deal with all the new possibilities in the future”.
