Brief Casualties

BRAC response

Shelter Child Protection

WASH Lost and missing child information centre

• Renovation work was completed on 51 latrines, 44 shallow tube


wells, four deep tube wells and three bathing cubicles. The
WASH team will continue to identify and repair damaged
tubewells, latrines, substructures and superstructures.
• 8,000 litres of drinking water were distributed as emergency
support among the people affected. BRAC is planning to
distribute 24,000 litres of drinking water every day until the
aftershock subsides and there is a permanent source of drinking
water.

Health

• 233 people (84 women, 97 men and 52 children under-five)


affected by the fire received medical support. 36 had burn People affected collecting drinking water
injuries and the rest visited the centres with other injuries. Of the
people with burns, nine were children under five years old, 9
were female and 18 were male. All burns were treated except
one severe case, which was referred to the MSF hospital.

General Food Assistance

• 119 cartons of high energy biscuits to 119 families and 819 hot
meals to 556 individuals have been distributed. As requested by
World Food Programme, BRAC will support World Vision with
7,500 hot meals for both lunch and dinner.

Site Management

• 956 families (3,507 individuals) are being supported, through


food, shelter and return of separated children to the parents.
