desire, conflicts and war are analyzed in this paper. Moreover, it analyses the internal

and external conflicts as new wars. It chiefly discusses on the struggle between

darkness and light.

The study also focuses on the difficulties of mental survival creates through

the greed for power. The concept of survival in the novel is explained in different

forms. The Capital survives through exploiting the district people. Therefore, the

people suffers a lot to survive as well as they play with own their life to get existence.

Revolution of the peasants drives the destruction of the Capital.

Alina, the protagonist realizes the cruelty of the power. At the beginning she

remains silent to the system of the Capital called Darkling. She pawns her own life to

the Capital, but with the help of her strength, she gets her life back from the Capital.

From the moment, she recognize the value of her inner power, light is more powerful

than the darker side of Darkling, she starts fighting against the power of the Capital.

With the help of her internal power, finally she defeats the power of the Capital. Thus,
