A Reflection Paper

ADAS III

Serene ambiance, astonishing view, relaxing activities, exciting games, multiple

reflections, all twisted with a little spice of pressure, mixed all together, indeed brought a
better version of myself in terms of innovation, creativity, flexibility, coordination,
collaboration, and teamwork.

First drop: Wind Farm. I won’t scruple to admit that it was my first time to witness the
hair-blowing, mindboggling view of the windmill farm. From this very point, I realized that
there are places worth to travel, sites worth to see, winds worth to feel, and the choice to
enjoy all these, is upon us. If only we decide to give a try and take the chance. It’s basic to
say, no pain no gain.

Next drop: Alta Vista. It was not my first time to be there but the refreshing feeling
upon entering is of the same level as I felt before. From here I know, I will learn a lot.

On Yoga: Having yoga by the sunset at the beach side is a perfect way to exhale all
the toxics inhaled from the city stress. It made me realized how blessed I am to have the
opportunity to relax my mind and body.

On Games: I did not let any game be over without hitting out my best in it, in my own
little way thou. I made sure that I will be a player in each and every game.

In the “Passing the Hulahoop” game, I was positioned as the first player to pass on
the hoop to the member next to me. I did not want to waste even a bit of interval of a second
so I practiced being sharp, alert and focused, gathering my mind and body together so I
could pass on the hoop immediately right after the go signal. After passing the hoop, I
compared our status with the others and even if we were behind, I kept on cheering my
group mates. I have learned to hold on to the small chance to make it. And luckily, we made
it in the first place. At work, we have to be sharp, alert, and focused in accomplishing our
tasks by doing it real fast and right the first time before forwarding it to the person next to
process. With this game, I have realized the importance of determination and efficiency in
accomplishing such task.

In the “Body Factory” activity, we were assigned to manufacture the body part,
applying creativity, we cut and drew both male and female bodies of different sizes and
shapes. We even labelled the female bodies with names, Ivana (Alawi), Nursing, Virgin,
Chubby, so to be flexible whatever body type will be suited best. However, upon getting to
the point of assembling the body parts altogether, I realized that creativity and flexibility shall
always be paired with proper planning, coordination and collaboration. Thus, we should
execute our given tasks with same lenses as a whole and not in part.

In the “Untying the knots” game, I was positioned to the bottom three player on the
rope. While waiting for our turn, we observed each of the group’s strategy and the pattern of
untying the knot. Upon getting the pattern, we have decided to try and start on our own from
the bottom end of the rope while our group mates are untying the other end of the rope. This
enabled our group to meet in the middle and finish the game the shortest time. Sometimes,
even if something is not in the given rule, if we think of a way we could do a process better, it
is rewarding to have the courage to try something new. In our work, I could relate this to
observation and proper documentation, so that if history repeats itself in the future, we can
do it once again through applying or utilizing the available data from before.

In the “Flower relay” game, I was able to realize the importance of knowing our
strengths and weaknesses and using these inputs in planning, such as in identifying the
fittest person to do the running and the flower arranging under pressure as well as
eliminating team wood.

The last game “Basket Ball” is an epitome of a concluding game by which we were
given a clue to apply all that we have learned and reflected from previous activities. After
how many attempts, we finally got the point, that again, teamwork as a whole is the key.

I came in to Alta Vista with “Alone” perspective, I came out with “Together” vision.
With these learning, from now on forward, I shall not roar a little alone but we shall roar
aloud together.

As such, may I summarize my learning experience through the adage:

Alone we can go so fast, together we can go so far…

Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.
