Islam and Muslim

- Muslim are the people who practice or follow Islam religion.
And actually, mas naunang dumating sa Pilipinas yung Islam before pa tayo masakop ng Spanish san Americans. Na –establish na yung Islam as a religion since the early AD
600s. Kasabay ng pag-usbong niya around the world, nagkaron din ng iba’t ibang developlemnt yung mga muslims ng sarili nilang unique style of art
Ang focus daw ng Islamic art ay mainly artforms built on the beauty and respect for the teachings of Islam.
Isang characteristic ng Islamic art is yung absence ng human form. Sa kanila kasi, pinagbaabwal talaga yung paggamit ng mga living forms kasi pinaniniwalaan nila na si
God lang yung may right to create living things so pag gumagawa ka raw ng painting ng humans for example or sculpture ng mga animal, parang puampantay ka raw sa Diyos na
gumagawa ng mga living things and pwede raw to maging way na naman para magamit ng mga tao to worship and maniwala sa iba’t ibang Gods like the ancient times.
Ang sabi naman daw sa Quran, depende pa rin naman raw kung anong intention nung isang piece of art. If ang intetntion ay to be wroshipped then it is certainly prohibited
unless stated otherwise according to Quran.
So yung absence na to ng mga human forms and figures ng musmlim art, evident siya in the architectural design of mosques in Mindanao where calligraphy is used as the
main form of expression. (example). So sa mosques, yung star and cresent na nakikita natin sa top sa mga mosqe, ito actually yung commonly known symbol used in Islam. Yung
five pointer star nirereflect niya yung 5 pillars of islam while yung cresent moon and starts naman ay yung ngasysymbolize or nagrerelate sa greatness ng creator.
Sa Arabic, ang tawag sa Mosque ay Msajid. Yung word daw a mosque means “place of prostration.” Yung prostratation, sa Tagalog ito hyung pagpapatirapa. Ginagawa
raw nila to para mapakita na dinededicate nila yung buhay nila kay Allah. (example). Basically and generally, itong mga mosque yung lugar kung san nag woworship yung mga
Muslims.
 So ito yung some of the largest and most beautiful mosques na meron sa Pilipinas.

Ito namang Sarimanok (example), mahiwagang ibon daw to na pinaniniwalaan ng mga Maranao mula sa Lanao del norte at Lanao del Sur. So galing yung word na
Sarimanok sa “sari” o yung magarbo o colorful at “manok” or yung ibon nga. Maraming legends about sa kung san nga ba talaga nagmula yung Sarimanok. Isa sa mga to yung
galing sa Muslims. According to them, nahanap daw ni Prophet Muhammad itong Sarimanok na to sa first heaven of the seven heavens. Yung pagtilaok daw nitong Sarimanok na
to yung nagpagising or basta yung nagpa-arise sa lahat ng living creatures except sa mankind. And darating daw yung Judgement day once na tumigil na siya sa pagtilaok.
Ito naming suot namin, itong form ng Hijab wichi is an Arabi word which means barrier or partition. Pero sa Islam daw, mas broad yung meaning nito. Isa sa mga meaning
niya, principle daw siya ng modesty which includes behavior as well as yung pananamit ng mga lalaki and babae. Isa lang itong head covering namin sa mga forms ng hijab. Ibig
sabihin, di lang siya applicaple for women, Tho, women lang yung nagssuot nung heqad covering, sa men, yung parang pinaka hijab naman sa kanila ay di sila pwede magsuot ng
tight fitting na damit or anything na shinoshow off yung body nila. Di lang din lagging head covering lang yung sinusuot ng muslim women. Iba iba kasi yun g interpretation sa
modesty rules ng Muslims. Yung iba ang pinanininwalaan nila yung hair anf cleqavage lang naman yung kailangan Ihide. Meron di naman yung iba nating nakiktita, minsan
complete covering siya of everything exept yung hands face and feet Minsan nga kahit yung face eh as in eyes lang yung nakikita.
Ang tawag daw sa mga women na nagsusuot ng Hijab ay Muhaajaba.
