Lessons to revise for the exam

Lesson n=1  :

There are 8 parts of speech, these parts are very necessary to be consider in the english
language and in any other language. These parts of speech are : NOUN , Pronoun , verb,
adjective, adverb, preposition , conjection, interjection.

1-Noun : noun of person, place, thing or an idea.

2-Pronoun : is a word used in the place of the noun to avoid repetition. « i, you, she/he, they,
we, it »

3-Verb : a word that expresses an action. It must agree with the subject «  Both singular/ or
both plural »

4-Adj : a word that describe a noun or pronoun. for eg : The pretty girl

5-Adverb : a word that describe a verb. For eg : He drives his new car carefully

6- Preposition : is a word placed before a noun or pronoun to form a phrase modifying another
word in the sentence «  for eg : By, with, about , until.. »

7-Conjunction : a conjunction join words , phrases, or clauses. It indicates the relationship


between the elements joined. ( But, and , or, while…)

8- Interjection : is a word used to express emotions. It is usually followed by an exclamation


point. ( OH ! / wow ! / oups !)

Lesson n=2  : THE QUANTIFIER

A quantifier is a word or phrase which is used before a noun to indicate the amount or the
quantity. For eg : some, many, a lot of , few

The Quantifier can be used with both countable and uncountable nouns

With countable : many, few , very few , several, a large number of , a great number of , a
majority of…

With Uncountable : much, little, very little, a large amount of, a large quantity of …

Lesson n=3  : THE TENSES

1- PRESENT SIMPLE : he / she / it = » verb+s


2- Present continuous :to be + verb+ ing
3- Present perfect : has/have+verb+ed
4- Present perfect continuous :has/have+ been+verb+ing
5- Past simple : verb+ed
6- Past continuous : was/were+ verb+ing
7- Past perfect :had+p.p
8- Past perfect continuous : had+been+verb+ing
9- Future simple :will + verb
10- Future continuous : will be + verb+ing
11- Future perfect :will+have+verb+ed
12- Future perfect continuous :will+have been+verb+ing

Note : In the present simple , the 3rd person singular ( he/she/it) we add the S , es or ies

For eg : she travels / it gives / he washes/ she mixes

Lesson n=4  : Transitional words

Addition : Also / in addition/ and/ likewise/moreover..

Contradiction : But/yet/however/unlike/although / rather…

Emphasis : as an illustration/ for this reason/ in this case/ that is to say…

Consequence : consequently/ thus/ henceforth / hence/ as a result/ therefore..

Sequence : First/ second/ then/ before that / after that/ finally..

Lesson n=5  : /s/ /z/ /iz/


 Voiced sounds  : B /D/G/L/M/N/NG/R/V/Y/J /Z/
 Voicless sounds : p/k/t/f/ph/th /S/
 Sibilant sound : CE/S/X/Z/SS/CH/SH/GE /IZ/
