TITLE

NAV/STROBE LIGHT REPLACEMENT

EFFECTIVITY

PURPOSE

Reports have been received of a HDG MISCOMP message and a red Xing of the heading display on the PFDs
of the G1000 avionics system. To help to decrease the number of these error messages, the left and the right
nav/strobe light assemblies and related electrical wiring should be replaced with new light assemblies and
wiring as specified in this Service Bulletin.

COMPLIANCE

Recommended: Accomplish during a scheduled airframe or 12-month (annual type) inspection if there have
been HDG MISCOMP messages and red Xing of the heading display on the PFDs of the airplane.

APPROVAL

FAA approval has been obtained on technical data in this publication that affects airplane type design.

1. Prepare the airplane for maintenance.

A. Electrically ground the airplane.

B. Make sure that all switches are in the OFF/NORM position.

C. Disconnect electrical power from the airplane.

(1) Disconnect external electrical power.

(2) Disconnect the airplane battery.

D. Attach maintenance warning tags to the battery and external power receptacle that have "DO NOT
CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER - MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" written on them.

2. Remove the leading edge access panels and panel 511AB from the lower side of the left wing and
remove the leading edge access panels and panel 611AB from the lower side of the right wing. Keep
the attachment hardware. (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 6, Access Plates and
Panels Identification - Description and Operation.)

3. Remove the air inlet cover and the upper wing strut fairing from the left and the right wing. Keep
the attachment hardware. (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 57, Wings -
Removal/Installation.)

4. (Airplanes equipped with air conditioning) To get access to ground stud GL003 in the left wing and ground
stud GR002 in the right wing, remove the black air inlet duct from the left wing-to-evaporator duct and
from the right wing-to-evaporator duct. (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 21, R134A
Air Conditioning System - Maintenance Practices.)

5. For the left and the right wings, replace the nav/strobe light assemblies and do wiring modifications
as follows:

A. (Refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2.) Replace the wiring that connects the nav/strobe light assembly
to the electrical system with the 2697349-1 Wiring Assembly, Nav/Strobe, Left (2697349-2 Wiring
Assembly, Nav/Strobe, Right). Do not connect the wiring to the nav/strobe light assembly at this time.

B. (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A.) Remove the C622010-0101 Left Nav/Strobe Light Assembly
(C622010-0102 Right Nav/Strobe Light Assembly).

(1) Remove and discard the four screws that connect the nav/strobe light assembly to the wing tip.

(2) Remove and discard the nav/strobe light assembly.

C. Install the S3100-526 Left Nav/Strobe Light Assembly (S3100-527 Right Nav/Strobe Light
Assembly).

(1) Remove the left and the right wing tips from the airplane. Keep the attachment hardware.

(2) Put the S3100-526 Left Nav/Strobe Light Assembly (S3100-527 Right Nav/Strobe Light
Assembly) in position on the wing tip.

(3) (Refer to Figure 1, Detail A and Figure 2.) Attach the wiring plug (PL003 Left, PR003 Right)
from the electrical system to the S3100-526 Left Nav/Strobe Light Assembly (S3100-527
Right Nav/Strobe Light Assembly).

(4) With the four MS24693S28 Screws, attach the S3100-526 Left Nav/Strobe Light Assembly
(S3100-527 Right Nav/Strobe Light Assembly) to the wing tip.

(5) Find the screw hole (on the outer shell of the nav/strobe light assembly) that is nearest to the
PR003 Plug (PL003 Plug).

(6) Use this screw hole to attach the shield wire to the outer shell of the S3100-526 Left Nav/Strobe
Light Assembly (S3100-527 Right Nav/Strobe Light Assembly) with the 52273-2 Terminal,
MS35338-40 Lock-Spring Washer, and MS35206-213 Screw.

(7) With the kept attachment hardware, install the left and the right wing tips.

6. Install the access panels with the kept attachment hardware. (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance
Manual, Chapter 6, Access Plates and Panels Identification - Description and Operation.)

7. On the left and the right wing, install the air inlet cover and the upper wing strut fairing with the
kept attachment hardware. (Refer to the Model 208 Maintenance Manual, Chapter 57, Wings -
Removal/Installation.)

8. Remove maintenance warning tags and connect the airplane battery.

9. Do a check of the navigation and strobe lights to make sure that they operate correctly. [Refer to the
Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH), Section 4.]

10. Make an entry in the airplane logbook that states compliance and method of compliance with this
Service Bulletin.

NOTE: This information shall be considered an amendment to the Cessna Manufacturer's


Service/Maintenance Manual and should be accomplished within the specified time requirement.

CREDIT

Applicable parts credit and a labor allowance credit of 7 man-hours per airplane will be provided to replace the
left and the right nav/strobe light assemblies and related electrical wiring as specified in this Service Bulletin.
Freight will be credited at the most economical method unless pre-approved by Cessna. For pre-approval
contact Cessna Parts Distribution Warranty Administration at Telephone: 316-831-4296, Fax: 316-206-2746 or
E-mail: cpd2claims@cessna.textron.com.
To receive credit, the work must be completed and a Warranty Claim submitted by a Cessna Caravan or
Propjet Single Engine Service Station within 30 calendar days of Service Bulletin compliance before the credit
expiration dates shown below.

NOTE: Per standard procedures, hold the removed C622010-0101 and C622010-0102 Light Assemblies for
field scrap.

When you complete the Warranty Claim, the labor allowance claimed shall be itemized for each above action
completed.

On July 20, 2010 the following Owner Advisory message will be sent to applicable owners of record in
CAB10-8A.
Dear Cessna Owner:
This Owner Advisory is to inform you that CAB10-8 Nav/Strobe Light Replacement has been issued. Reports
have been received of a HDG MISCOMP message and a red Xing of the heading display on the PFDs of the
G1000 avionics system. To help to decrease the number of these error messages, the left and the right
nav/strobe light assemblies and related electrical wiring should be replaced with new light assemblies and
wiring as specified in CAB10-8.
