Dosage & Administration Special Population

Geriatric Patients: No specific

dosage recommendations for
geriatric patients, but generally
select dosage at the lower end of
recommended range; increase
dosage more gradually and
monitor closely.

Pediatic Patient: Distuptive Behaviour Disorder &

ADHD > Outpatient: PO/IM 1-12 years initialy
0,55mg/kg every 4-6 hours or IM every 6-8 hours
as necessary, increase dosage gradually as
required. > Hospitalized patient: PO/IM initiate
with low dosage as with outpatients and increase
dosage gradually. For severe behaviour disorder,
higher dosages (50-100 mg/ daily, and in older
children: ≥ 200 mg daily) may be necessary. There
is little evidence that behavior improvement in
severely distrubed, mentally retarded patients is
further enhanced at dosages .500 mg daily. IM
max 40 mg daily for children < 5 years (or 22,7kg).
Max ≤ 75 mg daily for children 5-12 years of age
(or 22,7-45,5 kg); dosage may be further increased
in unmanageable patients.

Adults: Psychotic Disorder >Hospitalized patients :

little therapeutic gai achieved by dosages > 1 g
daily administered for extended periods. Less
acutely agitated patients: usually do not exceed
400 mg daily. IM max IM dosage of 400 mg every
4-6 hours.
