CHAPTER 1

INTRODUTION

[BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY]

Overusing gadget is the rampant problem that face in our school,ELIAS P. DACUDAO

GUMALANG SCHOOL OF HOME INDUSTRIES right now, specially to the grade 10-

students. Overusing gadget is already become a habit nowadays ,not also in grade 10-

students but also in general. In this situation it has big effect to the student, specially to

their academic performance. If the student will not perform to their academic learning or

performances, because overusing gadget they will get a fail grades.

Overusing gadget is not good, specially to the people who used this, because they

expose to the radiation. It also destroy to the communication of each other, instead they

talk to each other but they facing or focusing to the gadgets. At this present there have

many student had a cellphone compare to the past, so that they will not aim the higher

grades. It also affect to their lifestyle, because they will not sleep so much or they sleep

in late, so that in morning they came late in school, and during discussion of the teacher

they will not listening or focusing on what teacher talking about, because they felt

sleepy.

Overusing gadget can change the attitude or the behavior of the student, as like when

their teachers or parents command to do their task, they will not mind on what teachers

or parent talking about, because they are always busy in facing gadgets.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The researcher conducting this research study to determine the opinion of EPDGSHI

especially to the grade 10 student regarding to the problem of overusing gadgets.

Pointedly, his study sought to answer of the following questions.

1. As a student, what is the effect of overusing gadget?

2.what is the reason, why mostly the student want to have a gadget?

SIGNIFICANT OF A STUDY

The researcher believe that this study is very significant for the following people:

STUDENTS- to let them know the sequence of overusing gadget.

PARENTS- to inform them the possible outcome to their children of overusing gadget.

TEACHERS- to let them know, why will not focusing to their studies.

SCHOOL- to aware, what is the reason in overusing gadget of a student.


RESEARCH PROCEDURE

In conducting this study, the researcher followed the procedures below.

1. Teachers approval, this is the first procedure that we presented our research

topic to our English teacher for her approval.

2. Making survey questionnaire, the second procedure that we did.

3. Get some information on the social media about the topic that we chosen to give

more knowledge and information about the topic.

4. Ask the teacher to check our work, the fourth procedure that we did seek advice

from our teacher to check our output in order to correct our mistake and to

finalize our survey questionnaire.

5. Collecting data, the fifth procedure that we did to gather more information about

the given questionnaire that we need in order to complete our task.

6. Presenting the data, the six procedure that we did that we presented after we

gather and deliberate or finalize our data, we presented our output and shared

the information about the topic.


CHAPTER 5

(CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION)

This chapter the conclusion derived from this findings and the researcher

recommendation for future researches of similar concern.

CONCLUSION

Based on the findings of the study, we conclude the following:

1.Mostly of the EPDGSHians answered YES that they have a gadget.

2. The major reason why student overuse in gadget because of using gadget and

addicted of online games.

3.

4. The sequence of overusing gadget is failing grades and cause physical and

mental damage.

RECOMMENDATION

Based on the findings of the study, we recommend the following:

1. Student of EPDGSHI should minimize in using gadgets, to avoid physical and

mental damage and failing grades.

2. The teacher will not allow to the student in using gadget during school time, so

that the students will focus in their lesson.

3. Parent should take care and monitor and monitor their children as well, to avoid

their in exposure of radiation.


CHAPTER 4

PRESENTATION , ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

This chapter present the data gathered using pie graph and states analysis and

interpretation of the finding.

Based on the graph it is clearly shows that using facebook is the top reason why

student overuse in gadgets with the percentage of 45%, secondly they use it in online

games of 40% and lastly 15% of student using their gadgets for school project.
III. THE SEQEUNCES OF THE STUDENT IN OVERUSING GADGET.

In this case we can see the result in overusing gadget is 50% possibility of students who

will merely failed, and 50% possibility of students can cause physical and mental

damage.
CHAPTER 3

(METHODOLOGY)

This chapter present the design of the study, locale of the study, the respondent of the

study, research instrument and the research procedure.

DESIGN OF THE STUDY

This study basically quantitative and qualitative in nature and exploratory in design.

Since its main objective is to explore, to know and get the opinion of EPDGSHians

regarding the study of overusing gadgets. It present the data by using graph to analyze

and interpret them accordingly. The researcher believed that this the best design for this

study.

LOCALE OF THE STUDY

This study was conducted at ELIAS P. DACUDAO GUMALANG SCHOOL OF HOME

INDUSTRIES, Baguio district davao city, specially in grade 10-wisdom and senior high

school.

RESPONDENT OF THE STUDY

The respondent of the research was the grade 10-wisdom and senior high school

students of Elias P. Dacudao Gumalang School Of Home Industries, who are involved

in overusing gadgets.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS

Since the study is both quantitative and qualitative in nature and exploratory in design,

the researcher used survey questionnaire in gathering the data. As you can see below

this statement the survey questionnaire contains the questions with choices. This

statement is being used wher in the researcher asks some question specially to grade

10 and senior high school student to make this study more fragment.

CHAPTER 2

(REVIEW AND LITERATURE)

EFFECT OF OVERUSING GADGET

Excessive use of gadget such as mobile phones, tablets, computer desktop and

etc. can cause physical and mental damage to children. According to a study, a

child will likely to become overweight and develop seizure and vision problems

when they spend too much time using gadget.

The following are harmful effect of electronic gadget in the life of the student:

1.Gives rise to aggression

2. Children naturally replicate what they see

3.Leads to Obesity

4. Causes sleep disorders

5. Dries up the eyes

6. Causes hearing problems

7. Increases chances of cancer

8. Triggers back pain
