development (EDUC 3600).

COMMENTS:

Sarah has some wonderful, detailed lesson plans. She is well organized and prepared. Sarah uses technology
very effectively, the students have enjoyed the videos she has made of herself demonstrating different simple
machines. The students have also enjoyed video-taping their experiments using flip grid.

COMMENTS:

Sarah's command of the classroom has improved greatly in the time she has been at W.A. Day. Her teaching
voice is clear and is becoming more powerful. Having to wear a mask while you instruct is not easy, but Sarah
has adapted well. Her movement around the classroom is more noticeable and she is better able to engage with
her students by doing this. Sarah has become more comfortable utilizing the "pause" after she uses an
attention getter or asks a question.

COMMENTS:
Sarah's confidence has grown in the past few weeks. She has better command of the classroom and reinforces
the expected behaviours that need to be shown in class. Sarah is very respectful of the students, when
behaviours need to be reviewed or corrected she does not single out one or two students, but rather discusses
the issue with the whole class.

COMMENTS:
Sarah has given both formative and summative assessments in the time she has been teaching simple
machines. She has used rubrics, check-lists, hands on activities and quizzes. When more information was
needed, Sarah talked to individual students so they could orally explain their learning. She has collected
detailed information on documents that records student learning.

COMMENTS:
Sarah has been a valued addition to our Grade 4 classroom. She is always prepared for her lessons, and has
already developed positive relationships with the students. Sarah is very professional, she is one of the first staff
members to arrive at school and one of the last to leave at the end of the day. Sarah takes the initiative for her
own professional learning as well. She has been in to watch a Grade 1 classroom, observing the differences
between Grade 1 and Grade 4, and she has conferenced with the Grade 1 teacher.

Areas for further growth:
Going forward as a teacher, Sarah needs to continue to work on classroom management. She has gained a
great deal of confidence already, and this just needs to keep developing. Work on voice projection, movement
around the classroom and really practice the "pause". Little attention getters are important when giving instruction
("1-2-3, eyes on me"...) and then also when allowing students to begin moving ("when I say GO"...).

Overall comments (Strongest aspects of student’s performance):


Sarah is a very kind and patient teacher. She has developed good relationships with the children- by the end of
week 1 she had already learned 48 names! Sarah's lesson plans are well developed and thought out, she comes
to class very prepared. Her use of technology is effective- the students have been very engaged in her lessons.
