Fill on the chart with the elements you have identified in Fahrenheit 451.

Plot element Montag the main character who is a fireman and thinks he’s living the most perfect
life just as everyone else. He comes to realize his life is actually miserable and
nobody else realizes it so he tries to find a way to get out of it.
Exposition Montag meets Clarisse in the street one day.
Conflict Man vs. Society. Montag is having trouble with the world around him. He’s confused,
angry, and alone.
Rising action Montag meets Clarisse.
Rising action Montag at the library and sees a women kill herself.
Rising action Mildred tries to kill herself.
Rising action Mechanical hound shows to be a threat only to Montag.

Climax Beatty tried to burn down Montag’s house down and Montag threw a flamethrower
at him.
Falling action Montag running from authorities and the mechanical hound.
Resolution Rebellion. If Montag was able to be free by rebelling then everyone else should give
it a try to not be stuck there, unhappy, with no truth forever.

Now use this space to rewrite the ending. Be creative. Try and incorporate an image or
symbol to reach a happy, tragic or ambiguous ending.

As Montag was running from this godforsaken town he glanced back, he laughed. He wasn’t sad or even
upset that he was leaving. The faster he ran and the farther he got, he felt free. Free from misery, free
from the lies, free from the past, and it was all up to him now.
