Social-Emotional Learning – Ariel Su

Teaching students SEL has created a more inclusive environment at my school. The program that most
of the primary teacher uses is MindUp [CITATION Min \l 4105 ]. They make sure they do it every other day
and has at least one yoga session per week. They noted that it has made their classroom communities a lot
stronger and more cohesive. As for the intermediate grades, we have a resource teacher in the school who is
certified to teach EASE [ CITATION Eve \l 4105 ]. With the exception of this year, due to COVID, she has
taught all of the students from grade 4 to 5 EASE strategies when having to deal with stress or other issues. All
of the students participate and it is a system we often point to in class when we see a student needing a quick
break.
