 National Museum and Art Gallery

It is located on the south-east corner of the Queen’s Park Savannah. It was established in 1892 and was
originally called the Royal Victoria Institute.This museum contains collections that range from the earliest
Amerindian settlers to modern Carnival . There is also a display of fine 19th century paintings by the Trinidad
artist Jean Michel Cazabon.

 Chaguaramas Military History and Aviation Museum


The Caribbean’s only military history museum is near the helicopter hangar in Chaguaramas, about 20
minutes from Port of Spain.It is a labour of love. It covers centuries of military action on land, sea and air. Its
assembly of extraordinary collection will fascinate anyone  with a fell for military exploits .

Indian Caribbean Museum

It is located near the famous Temple in the Sea at Waterloo,Trinidad. It is the only one of its kind in the world. It is
dedicated to the preservation of the material history of over one million descendants of East Indians/South Asians in
the Caribbean. The first Indian immigrants came to the Caribbean from India to work as indentured labourers from
1838 to 1917 after the abolition of slavery.

Museum of Tobago History

The Tobago Museum gives a glimpse into the island's early history.It is is located in the Barrack Guard House
of Fort King George. Amerindian artifacts, military relics and documents from the island's colonial history are
all here.The museum contains several displays from Tobago's early history which are useful information and
materials for any historian.
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Trinidad's famous Roman Cathedral is certainly amongst its most imposing landmarks .It dominates
the Independence Square in Port of Spain. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception boasts a
matching pair of towers and holds regular masses each day. Dating back to the 1820s, this
cathedral is known for its distinctive peach facade and pentagonal altar.

Tranquility Methodist Church

Tranquility Methodist Church is located on the corner of Victoria Avenue and Tragarete Road in
Port of Spain. This church is part of the National Trust of historic buildings. After much saving by
the first Methodists known as Wesleyan missionaries the foundation stone of the church was laid in
1886 .This church has survived an earthquake in 1954 and a fire in 1984 and continues to be a place
of comfort for the weary soul.

Haji_Gookool_Meah_Mosque_

In 1927,millionare Haji Gookool Meah decided to build a mosque.It is located in on the southern
side of the Western Main Road in St James After his death at age 92, he left most of his money in a
trust fund for the poor and maintain the mosque which had been named after him. That trust fund
which is managed by a bank, continues to this day to maintain the mosque and also to provide for
the poor, the needy and for education.

Mount St. Benedict

It is located on the Eastern Main Road, St John's Road up hill. Mount St. Benedict is 800 feet above
sea level. Founded in 1912 by monks fleeing religious persecution in Brazil, the monastery is
dedicated to the Virgin Mary under the title Our Lady of Exile. The monastery had very humble
beginnings and expanded over the years.

Santa Rosa

In 1786Governor Chacón built a church and dedicated it to Rosa de Lima .Rosa de Lima, was the
first Amerindian to be made a saint .She was also the first saint of the New World. This Catholic
church at Arima has long celebrated the feast of its patron saint.
