The Resurrection
Shoot on: March 27, 2021
INTRO : Right at the beginning, when God's perfect world got messed up, He promised to come
and fix it - to mend His broken world and to mend our broken lives. Just over 2000 years
ago, when God finally put his rescue plan into action.
NAR. : His great plan all began when Jesus got arrested and was shown to the public with
Barabbas.
: Angry and jealous leaders have put Jesus on trial, even when he did not do anything
wrong. Early in the morning, these leaders and the Jewish council had decided what to
do with Jesus. They tied him, led him away and turned him over to Pilate, the governor.
: Every year during the Passover, the governor would free one person from the prison
that the people wanted him to set free. Now, there was a prisoner named Barabbas. He
was a rebel and committed murder in a riot.
: Then Pilate asked, “Do you want me to free the King of the Jews?” The crowd didn’t
answer so he asked again, “What should I do with this man that you call the King of the
Jews?” The crowd shouted “Kill him on the cross!”
: Pilate asked them again, “Why? What has he done wrong?” But the crowd only yelled
back louder, “Kill him on the cross!”
NAR : Right after his trial, he was sent out to be beaten and whipped. Then he had to carry a
cross up the hill outside the city, where he was crucified like a criminal.
: After he was crucified on the cross, Jesus cried out “Father, forgive them. They do not
know what they are doing.”
Then later in the afternoon, Jesus cried, “It is finished!” and died. Among the people
standing from a distance, there stood Mary the mother of James and Joseph, Mary
Magdalene, Salome and James, weeping after Jesus.
CONCLUDE : It was at this moment that Jesus took upon himself the full weight of all our sins. And it
was there on the lonely cross, Jesus willingly hung in our place and received the full
weight of God’s wrath and judgment. Jesus’ crucifixion holds life-changing power and
hope for everyone who believes. For it is through the cross, that God showed the true
depth of his love and just how far He would go to save a world lost in sin.
NAR. : After Jesus was crucified, his friends took down his body, buried him inside a tomb and
a stone big stone by the entrance. His friends were sad and confused because they
thought this was the end.
: Little did they know, on the third day, early in the morning, some women came to the
tomb to anoint Jesus’ body. But when they arrived, the stone was rolled away and the
tomb was empty!
: Suddenly, an angel appeared before them and asked, “Why are you looking for Jesus
here?” “He isn’t dead anymore! HE is alive!” Now these women rushed back to town
except for Mary, who stayed by the tomb weeping.
: Later on, she saw a man that she thought was the gardener so she went ahead and
asked him, “Where had they taken Jesus’ body?” The man turned to her and replied,
“Mary.” It was at that moment she instantly knew it was Jesus. Truly he was alive! So he
told Mary to go and tell the others.
NAR. : By evening of the third week, the disciples locked their doors because of their fear of
the Jews. Meanwhile, while they were at the table, suddenly Jesus appeared to them
and said’ “Peace be with you!” Thomas was not with them when Jesus came. The other
followers told him, “We saw the Lord.” But he refused to believe.
: Instead he said, "I will not believe it until I see Him in person with his wounds.”
: Again another evening, everyone was in the same house and this time Thomas was
there as well. Jesus appeared again and said “Peace be with you!” Then He turned to
Thomas and told him, “Put your finger here and look at my hands. Stop doubting and
believe.”
: Thomas then cried, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus replied to him, “You believe because
you see me. Those who believe without seeing me will be truly happy.”
