Netiquette* & Class Rules

1. Virtual Flipped Classroom - The online classroom is observed and monitored by the
Instructor and/or UNC Administrators and Support Services.
2. Attendance - The LMS keeps track of class participation and attendance, and is, graded.
3. Face-to-face Sessions – at least once per week, a face-to-face session shall be scheduled
thru Zoom or Google Meet. Links shall be provided at least one day prior to the session. Graded
recitations are to be expected.
4. Be Kind and Courteous - Treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural, but
kindness is required. For online materials and links, you may hit like or dislike, share, subscribe, or
even leave a comment on a particular online link. Please watch your manners. You are encouraged
to actively participate in discussion fora with the other course participants. Be polite and respectful
when interacting on topics related to the course and in giving feedback.
5. No Discriminatory Acts, Hate Speech, or Bullying - Make sure everyone feels safe.
Discrimination or bullying of any kind is not allowed. Degrading comments will not be tolerated.
6. Observe Proper Attire - For synchronous classes/sessions, you can either wear formal or
casual wear.
7. English only Policy (E.O.P.) - This is an English language course with a gender-neutral
tone. Hence, correspondence, inquiries, and answers must be in English. Use of the vernacular
language shall be at the minimum.
8. No Faceless Profile, No Poser - Faceless profile will be removed anytime. Only those with
proper profile face pictures are allowed to post in the Discussion Fora and other online activities.
Using the photo of others will cause your removal anytime but only in the online media platform or
LMS. The posts of accounts showing faceless, avatar, and poser will be deleted anytime.
9. Course Content - For technical problems with the online platform, please inform your
professor and/or the appropriate staff or “front-line” tech support from UNC.
10. Quick Reference - Do not rely solely on the materials given by your professor. They only
serve as quick references. You are expected to do your own research.
11. Respect Everyone’s Privacy - Being part of this class requires mutual trust. Authentic,
expressive discussions make groups great, but may also be sensitive and private. What’s shared in
the online class should stay in the online class. Keep your account secure! Do not share your login
credentials.
12. Course Completion - Should you not be able to complete the course, due to any
unwarranted and unavoidable circumstance/s, it is incumbent upon you to inform your Law Professor
and submit a soft copy of a Letter of Absence, the soonest possible. Otherwise, you will receive a
DROPPED (DRP) mark for the Course.
13. Assignments and Discussion Forum - The Assignments and the Discussion Forum posts
are expected to be a combination of personal reflection and scholarly work. This means you are
expected to draw on your personal or professional experiences as well as concepts from the course.
The assignments, assessments, and/or discussions may or may not require formal citation or
referencing.
14. References - students are highly encouraged to provide themselves with the recommended
textbook as stated in the Course Outline/Syllabus.
