Document Introduction
HCIA-Routing & Switching will be replaced by HCIA-Datacom certification by the end of 2021 due
to certification upgrade. This document provides guidance for setting up the HCIA-Datacom lab
based on the HCIA-Routing&Switching lab devices to reduce the device resource costs of partners.

Upgrade Scheme

1) Key Points
Compared with HCIA-R&S, HCIA-Datacom adds the WLAN experiment. The following changes are
required:
WLAN-AC function implementation (two procurement solutions):
a) Two switches function as ACs to manage and control APs. Therefore, replace the two switches
with S5731-H24P4XC switches.
b) An independent AC is added. Huawei AC series products can be used. For details about the
deployment mode, see the HCIA-DATACOM experiment manual.
AP power supply (two procurement solutions):
a) If APs use PoE power supply, replace the two switches with PoE-capable switches, such as
S5731-H24P4XC.
b) The AP is powered by a power cable. Therefore, you need to purchase a dedicated plug for
connecting to the AP.
You need to pay attention to only the preceding two items.
