Zika Outbreak 2015


• Indian Swine Flu outbreak (early 2015): Influenza A virus subtype H1N1 (A/H1N1).
Outbreak in India. Death toll: 2,035
• Zika virus epidemic (2015-2016): ZIKV, part of the Flaviviridae. Zika was a worldwide
epidemic and was spread by Aedes mosquitoes. Death toll: 53
2019
• Measles outbreak: infectious disease caused by the measles virus.
o Democratic Republic of the Congo
o New Zealand
o Philippines
o Kuala Koh, Malaysia
o Samoa
• Dengue fever epidemic (2019-present): mosquito-borne disease caused by the dengue
virus. Death toll: 3,930
o Asia-Pacific, Latin America
• COVID-19 pandemic (2019-present): disease caused by acute respiratory syndrome
coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). First case in Wuhan, China in December 2019. COVID-19 has
spread worldwide and lead to a global pandemic. Death toll: 2.7 million+
• Lassa Fever (Lassa hemorrhagic fever (LHF)) Epidemic (2019-present): a hemorrhagic
fever caused by the Lassa virus. Epidemic in Nigeria. Death toll: 246+
