“With
the
Purity
of
Saint
Abadios.
With
the
Fury
of
the
Jaguar.
With
the
Victory
of
the
Emperor.
”
–Battle-‐chant
of
the
Dark
Jaguars
At
the
end
of
the
40th
millennium
the
living
Saint
Abadios
died
defending
the
jungle
world
of
Jagg-‐R5
against
orks
and
it
was
said
that
his
last
words
were
that
the
world
needed
to
be
defended
at
any
cost.
The
words
of
a
saint
are
given
great
importance
in
the
Imperium
and
even
though
the
world
was
an
uninhabited
one
it
was
decided
that
something
had
to
be
done
to
keep
it
fully
safe.
A
Ravenwing
detatchment
from
the
Dark
Angels
chapter
were
nearby
and
were
sent
to
battle
the
orks.
The
battles
were
hard
fought
and
though
the
Ravenwing
slew
them
in
great
numbers
one
by
one
their
bikers
fell
until
only
Battle
Brother
Ioasaph
of
the
10th
squad
remained.
He
was
however
lauded
a
hero
as
he
won
the
army
time
enough
to
arrive
and
repel
the
orks.
It
was
decided
that
Ioasaph
would
be
the
chapter
master
of
a
new
chapter
created
to
defend
the
world.
He
named
this
chapter
the
Dark
Jaguars
taking
the
first
part
from
his
previous
chapter
as
a
sign
of
respect
and
the
second
from
the
ferocious
jungle
cats
of
Jagg-‐R5.
The
chapter
had
barely
constructed
its
fortress-‐monastery
around
the
shrine
of
Abadios
when
the
orks
returned,
and
this
time
in
even
greater
numbers.
The
wars
against
the
orks
have
raged
there
with
only
short
breaks
in
the
fighting
for
almost
a
thousand
years
now
and
the
chapter
struggles
to
remain.
Currently
ninty-‐nine
marines
remain
and
a
Waaagh!
of
epic
proportions
is
closing
in
to
their
location.
Their
chief-‐librarian
believes
that
if
the
world
falls
the
Imperium
will
follow,
taking
proof
from
the
texts
of
Abadios
to
support
this
and
this
belief
only
strengthens
their
conviction
to
remain.
They
have
tried
to
reach
whatever
few
marines
they
have
as
part
of
the
deathwatch
to
return
and
defend
their
home
but
these
attempts
have
yet
been
unsuccessful.
All
need
not
be
lost
however,
they
have
allies,
the
Dark
Angels
honour
their
chapter
and
aids
them
when
such
actions
are
wise
and
more
mysterious
than
that
the
Damned
Legion
has
been
seen
coming
to
their
aid
at
several
occasions.
Apart
from
the
changes
followed
by
all
unforgiven
chapters
the
Dark
Jaguars
follow
the
Codex
Astartes
though
they
are
unable
to
keep
full
companies
currently
due
to
the
few
remaining
marines.
They
employ
a
higher
rate
of
dreadnaughts,
few
of
which
are
ironclad
or
venerable
variants,
and
they
themselves
attribute
them
to
their
will
to
fight
on
even
in
death.
