1. How did the pandemic affected you?

We all have been affected by the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, the
impact of the pandemic and its consequences are felt differently depending on our
status as individuals and as members of society. While some try to adapt to working
online, homeschooling their children and ordering food via Instacart, others have no
choice but to be exposed to the virus while keeping society functioning.

My situation during this pandemic is in the middle. I was able to buy my own
essentials at the same time I need to face the virus in order to provide for my own
needs. As the pandemic becomes a disaster in my life, I still think positively and root
for the brighter side. I meditate and cure my own mental health and at the same time,
I was able to express my own thoughts and expression to begin a new strong
connection with my relatives.

As for the academics, I barely gather information and learn effectively with the
new class strategy which is the online class. Its hard to pursue my desire profession
which is to become an Architect because it focuses more on practical work. Its hard
to decide if I continue my studies or pause it for a while until the pandemic ends.

2. What do you expect from this subject CE 421 Surveying?

As an architecture student, I hope I learned all the information needed into my course.
In this subject I hope to learn how to apply of surveying methods to construction, site
engineering, and civil engineering projects. And have a broad knowledge about the e
fundamentals of the theory of measurements and apply basic equations for survey
computations. And be familiar with the principles of subdivision design and land use
ordinances, as they relate to property surveying and site planning. Also, to have a good
communication with the teacher to learn effectively and to discuss all the lessons with the
broad understanding to the subject itself.

3. What is the biggest reason/inspiration you chose Architecture?

There are two reasons why I chose pursuing BS Architecture. First, it is my father’s
dream to have an Architect in the family. That was my father’s dream since he was a young child
like me. He wants to pursue this course when he was in college but due to being poor that time,
he needs to prioritized work to buy all his needs to survive. It is a great honor and I feel
overwhelm whenever my father proudly says that he has a future architect daughter.

The second reason was mine; I do not want a tight schedule. I want to work in the
environment where in I’m in control with the schedule and time. Deadlines was my limits, but it
is not hectic as other profession. Frankly, there are many times I want to quit, being an
architecture student is not that easy. You need to broaden your knowledge and pass the limits
of your learnings to come up with the good idea and great concepts. On those night I failed, on
those pillows I cried and, on those coffees, I spilled in my plates, its just a stepping stone for my
success to become an Architect someday. Cheers for the sleepless night and every horrible
dream I’ve encounter during the plates time. I have learned many things.

And for my inspiration? Its my mom who always guiding me wherever I go, supporting
me whenever I fail and always loving me whichever I do. That is my angel above, my savior all
the time.
