Topic: Uses of Solar energy

The first use of solar energy is electrical energy which uses solar panels to convert
light to electricity. A growing number of large solar installations generate power that
augments electricity from conventional nuclear and fossil fuel power plants. For
example, the Ivanpah solar power plant produces an estimated 377 megawatts net of
energy -- enough to supply the theoretical energy needs of 144,000 homes, which is
cited in Website Sciencing.com. but there are more than 3 sources said that Ivanpah
provide sufficiently for 140000 houses annually.
Thermal energy is the second use. It is used in houses, as well as Offices. Heating
Houses can be prepared in various ways, environment-friendly way for instance, by
powering radiant floors with a Forced Hot Air system. It saves a lot of energy and is more
environmentally friendly than conventional heating systems.
Another thermal energy is hot water. The solar installations do not convert light into
electricity; they use the sun’s heat to increase the temperature of water or another fluid
flowing through pipes in the collector. We also use this energy to cook or dry cloths.

There are some other uses. solar lights, for example should be used in place of the
regular lights on streets. The amount of power of forever lighted lamps on your streets
that can be saved if we switch off these regular lights or find some better alternative to
them.
In addition, there are some uses in transportation like solar road signs, solar cars and
vehicles.
It is also used as satellites in orbit or solar batteries for portable devices.
