1. List different types of mouse and briefly explain how they work?
Identify several mouse operations.

Mechanical- Has rubber or metal on underside. Electronic circuits

translate the movement of the mouse into signals the computer
can process.
Optical -Senses light to detect mouse’s movement More
precise, cleaning.
Laser -Expensive then optical sensor mouse.
Air -Motion-sensing mouse, suitable for mobile user.
Controls media player, slide shows by moving the mouse in
predetermined directions through the air.
Wireless -Battery-powered, transmit data using wireless
technology radio waves or infrared light waves.

2. What are input devices for PDA, tablet PDC, smart phones, kiosk?

PDA

Stylus, built-in mini keyboard, portable keyboard

Speak, built in camera, scanner.

Smart Phone Speak, Bluetooth headset, digital camera.

Touch sensitive pad, built in mini keyboard

Text instant and picture messaging

 Tablet PC

Pressure-sensitive digital pen, keyboard that can be rotated 180,

docking station.

Mouse, CD/DVD drives other desktop peripheral.

3. Briefly explain different types of terminals.

Dumb terminal

No processing power

Depend on the host computer to process data.

Smart terminal

Has processor

Independent

Special-purpose terminal

Perform specific tasks and contain features uniquely designed for

used in a particular industry.

Eg: Point-of-sale(POS), Automated teller machine(ATM)

4. Define the terms biometric, biometric data and biometric devices

and briefly explain their function.

5. Identify alternative input devices for physically challenged users?

Hi, my name is Min Lwin. I am a student from Asia Pacific University.

My group members and I are currently doing an assignment about

computing and IT.

And we would like to have a visit to interview about the golden horse
hotel and reservations department.

We have a University request, so can we make an appointment with the

manager or any of the staff from the reservation department, who can
provide us some information related to our assignment.

Our assignment questions require us to investigate, research and observe

an area of Information technology.
