desired teaching position. I am Ms. Pickens’ student teaching mentor for the 2020- 2021 school year.
Alexia possesses the skills to be an excellent educator. She is passionate, organized, hard-working and
committed to provide the best education for the students. Education has faced many challenges this
academic year and Alexia Pickens has been able to adapt and excel during these challenging times.

This school year Ms. Pickens has worked with in person and remote students teaching 6th grade science.
She is able to adapt lessons to fit the needs of all students. She makes her lessons relatable and culturally
relevant. She takes the time to build relationships with students and connect to their interests. Alexia has
successfully communicated with parents and guardians in regards to behavior, grades and class progress.

Ms. Pickens goes beyond the set requirements of her student teaching program in both the quantity and
quality of her work. She puts in extra time researching to create high quality, authentic lessons. Alexia
has demonstrated great perseverance and initiative. Not only is she passionate about her work but she is
motivated to grow in her role as an educator.

Overall, Ms. Pickens is highly creative and has designed very impactful, culturally relevant lessons for
her students.. She collaborates effectively with staff and administration in order to extend her depth of
knowledge and to educate herself and her students. She is always well planned and prepared. Alexia is
unquestionably an exceptional candidate for the posted position.
