Pattern:
The pattern is worked by making squares that you will seam together to form the
body of the suit. Size small will complete rows 1 – 7, size medium will complete rows
1 – 9, and size large will complete rows 1 – 11, before moving onto the border row.
After completing your first square, each size will make 8 more squares in the same
manner as their first, before moving onto seaming the 9 squares together. If you are
a visual learner, or prefer stitch charts, see the stitch charts on pages 4 - 6 of the
pattern. *Note: There is a different stitch chart for each size.*

Instructions”. DO NOT CUT WORKING YARN YET.

Square Border Instructions:

The border around each of your 9 squares is made by doing the following:
Ch 4, sk 1, 1 dc in next dc, *ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc in next dc,* rep ** until you reach a
puff st from previous row. When you reach the puff st, ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc into the
puff, [ch 1, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc, ch 3, 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc] into the ch 4 sp, ch 1, 1 dc in
next puff, *ch 1, sk 1, 1 dc in next dc,* rep ** until you reach another puff st. All
sizes continue in this manner around ALL 9 squares. When you reach the first ch
4, sl st in the 3rd ch, cut yarn, and tie off.

Seaming Instructions:
Lay out your 9 squares RS facing up, (the RS will be the side facing you while you
were making your 9 squares), in this pattern:

Use the following video to help you seam all the squares together. I use the
second technique shown in this video using a tapestry needle to work through
the top of the dc sts, however you can use whatever technique you prefer, as long
as you create a seamless look on the RS.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ja8JpZAtyws
Once all 9 squares are connected and look like the above pattern when laid flat,
seam the two edges showing dotted lines together. You should now be able to
see the shape of the bodysuit!

All sizes move onto “Bottom Connection Instructions”.

Bottom Scalloped Border:

For ALL sizes
Right leg border:
Reattach yarn where you finished seaming the connection piece to the front
piece (working with RS out, you’re going to work from right to left). Ch 1 and sc
into the first dc, sk 2 sts, 5 dc into the next st. Continue in this pattern as evenly
as possible until you reach the corner where your right hip will be when the piece
is worn, sc into ch 3 sp, sc into next ch 3 sp, then continue in the scallop pattern
as evenly as possible until you reach the end, sl st into the 1st sc.
Left leg border:
Reattach yarn on the other side where the connection piece and the front piece
were seamed together. Working from right to left, ch 1 and sc into the first dc, sk
2 sts, 5 dc into the next st. Continue in this pattern as evenly as possible until
you reach the corner where your right hip will be when the piece is worn, sc into
ch 3 sp, sc into next ch 3 sp, then continue in the scallop pattern as evenly as
possible until you reach the end, sl st into the 1st sc.

Puff Stitch Straps:
For ALL sizes:
The straps are made by using a modified puff st. Begin by attaching your yarn to
the very top left corner of your piece from the WS, through the ch 5 sp, but not
the ch 3 sp below it:
1. Ch 2, hdc, turn.
2. Ch 1, sc2tg, turn.
3. Ch 2, puff in the sc2tg from previous row, but only YO and pull through the
sc2tg from previous row a total of 2 times, then pull through remaining loops
(This is what I refer to as a “modified puff stitch”; see picture tutorial below),
do not turn.
4. Ch 2, modified puff in 1st ch, don’t turn.
5. Rep row 4 until you’ve made 60 puff sts, or more to be able to tie a bow
behind your neck to create a halter when the piece is worn. Cut yarn with
about 4” leftover and tie off. To create a little tassel at the end of the strap,
cut 5 pieces of yarn about 8”. With your hook, string the 5 strands through
the top of the last puff, pull them so that the center of the 8” lands in the
puff, take all strands and secure with a one big knot. Cut the strands 2”
below the knot you just made.
Now attach your yarn to the very top right corner of your piece from the RS,
through the ch 5 sp, but not the ch 3 sp below it, and repeat rows/steps 1 – 5.
